What is so hard about this for the Right to understand?

We are hearing that the Federal gov't shouldn't provide aid to people. That its America's private citizens who should open their wallets to pay for this disaster. That this "response" is somehow OK--leaving Americans to die for 5 days is just alright, they are trying now :eyes:

What is so hard about "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" for Conservatives to understand? (Declaration of Independence)

Conservatives seem to forget what a government is supposed to provide: "Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare..." (The Constitution of the USA)

CONSERVATIVES JUST DON'T SEEM TO GET IT!

If that is their attitude, then let the public of Iraq help themselves and get our kids the hell out of there!

If they want us to fend for ourselves then they need to stop giving funds to other countries when they experience disaster! Good GOD! What a bunch of fecal elimination orifices!!

these poeple are scum. Its ok to waste 200 million tax dollars a day in a war with no goal, but not ok to give tax money to AMERICANS who paid those taxes in the first place!

how dare these people say its ok to aid military ventures abroad, but the have a problem with using gov't money to fund disaster relief. I pay my takes so my govt would take care of me in this situation, not ship my tax money off to their offshore accounts and cronies in business :grr:

I just love the way you circulate general statements. You all know New Orleans was built over 300 hundred years ago. Most of them southern politicians you mention are Republican if I recall, the south is mostly red states. Yeah they are greedy bastards. You call the people lazy primates....thats real nice, I see that as compassionate conservatism. Of course if you spent some time away from the Faux News network which spouts GOP talking points you might realize a lots of these people are old, sick, and for the most part decent human beings on the low social scale of society. They all weren't looting. It was funny the media portrayed a black boy with bread, water and diapers as being a looter and a white boy as liberating necessities. It was spread all over the news until it was pointed out that it was pure racism and the photos were yanked by AP along with permissions to continue using them.

I blame it on the culture of greed.....fat cat connected politico's that insisted on developing surrounding wetlands. I blame it on an inept FEMA administration that George Bush put in place. He did away with the Clinton administrations Disaster Mitigation Program put in place after hurricane Andrew of 1992.. He discontinued funding for levee reconstruction that was within 20% of completion. He discontinued funding wetland protection. He sure didn't make the hurricane but decided not to heed the warnings of the advancing Cat. 5 hurricane that was to hit the Gulf coast. He apparently decided eating cake with McCain and Strumming a guitar were more important than heading back to DC to take command of what is now the worst storm to hit the US.

Louisiana begged for help on Sunday Aug 28th but Bush went about his merry way. The State sent him a written request to have assistance in place but it went on a deaf ear. It reminds me of "Reading My Pet Goat" when planes were taking out the towers in N.Y. Its now being spun he had no knowledge.....who the fuck briefs him???? Just in case you don't believe it here is the state memo sent. read below.

Today Bush admits he fucked up....well I want the heads of Michael Brown & Michael Chertoff on spits.....2 of the most incompetent hacks even to disgrace the offices they serve. If Bush can't insure this country & its people survive a natural disaster, do you really think he can against a terrorist attack. Homeland Security is a joke, there is none its a phony as a Hollywood sound stage. Multiple agencies merged under the most bloated and expansive growth of government in decades. The funny thing is these agencies still work against each other.

You say its the peoples fault for not leaving.....how do poor blacks who work low wage jobs afford to get out of the city if transportation is not provided. There was not enough bus's there to do the job or the National Guard to assist (we send them to Iraq with equipment). FEMA was well aware of this but did nothing. Even rich tourists are just getting out after hotels paid for bus's to come and get them. At this very moment FEMA is still consistently fucking up, refusing the Red Cross entry. They are afraid that if the Red Cross goes in with supplies the people will not leave. There appears to be more concern over property being looted than life in general. Danny Hastert would be happy if they burned the whole fucking city down. (Another half wit clown) .

So yup the responsibility for this entire mess lies straight at the top, its leadership and our ship of state is w/o a leader who can lead. You can say he delegated, well that doesn't wash he should have been at the helm not continuing to enjoy his vacation. George Bush failed his Constitutional Oath, and failed miserably. (where I deleted almost word for word what you said)

I guess people don't care about black folks in N.O. or Mississippi, 2 of the poorest states in the nation. This is a major stain on this nation and time is not going to heal it. When all the finger pointing is over, it will boil down to massive incompetence. A failure of biblical proportions of our Federal Government.

I hope we see some resignations & indictments because this is a massive failure...you never saw it in rich Florida where old Jebby was when hurricanes hit.

Think what you will.........the truth will come out and you can't blame Bill Clinton for this one. He fixed the problem with FEMA after Bush 41 fucked up with Andrew in 1992.

Even when I look within myself, I'd far, far rather believe it's not so. I'd rather believe this was unavoidable. I'd almost rather stick my head in the sand. I can't - no more than I can, in good conscience, not face the boogelman under the bed. Only by facing our fears do we avoid even GREATER fears - real ones.

It's cowardice. It's evading the foreseen sense of helplessness. It's failing to admit an error - which is the hallmark of stupidity. It's one thing to be ignorant - and yet another to defend that ignorance by evading learning.

It's the same reasons so many flee to the false refuge of a perversion of 'faith' - not a 'faith' that give courage and strength, but a perverted 'faith' that's a poor substitute for learning and educating one's self. The fear of being 'wrong' is why they call themselves 'right.'

14. That's what they call "personal responsibility".
It does not extend to their cronies, who expect to receive lots of taxpayer money in the form of subsidies and government contracts. They also expect regular people- the people practicing "personal responsibility", to offer up their lives in the cause of securing oil wells and other "vital US interests" whenever their stock portfolios demand it.

The federal government seems to have no particular responsibility at all, beyond redistributing wealth upwards.

are learning the value of helping one's brother.

In my experience, the one who cry "self-sufficiency" are the first ones to cry for help when THEY need it.

I hope a few right-wingers are learning a lesson from all of this, but the power of corporate propaganda is real. The propagandists will twist this to tell the wingers that they are absolutely correct and the problems are all the fault of liberals.
