What happened to NO should be a wake-up call for all of us
whatever city or state we're in. Not just those who are in areas where hurricanes tend to strike, or on fault lines, but all of us.

What we can learn from this is that if a disaster happens,
YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

These people had to wait DAYS for food and water.

Next time/place it might be longer. I don't trust the junta to get their act together after this and respond more quickly the next time.

1. I agree. Everybody should put together an emergency preparation kit
And in an emergency, do exactly the opposite of what your "leaders" tell you to do.

2. It has been
You can see it in people's faces and hear it in their speech. Katrina changes everything. America is ripe for the picking for any charismatic person who has the interests of the people at heart.

3. I've been thinking the same thing
and I ask people if they would want the same sort of response from the government if it were our city, our county.

5. my question is...
will we need guns..to keep desperate others..from taking our food, water and and medicine and cars...a terrible thing to consider...but reality is...survival instinct..when it gets right down to it..will become the strongest instinct..and starving people will take what u have to survive, if need be.

6. It was for me.
My husband and I have been discussing in great detail what we need to have available in case this happens to our city.
