I know why people are responding to the New Orleans disaster. |
|
Putting aside the normal levels of human compassion and decency that "everyone" possesses, there is ONE THING that Democrats and Republicans alike are getting a very clear view about:
THAT COULD BE ME!!!
*YOU* could be the one sitting on a roof under the sweltering sun for SIX DAYS with no food, no water, and NO HELP.
THAT COULD BE ME!!!
Yes, the destruction of New Orleans is bad, but there is something that is definitely attacking people at a "gut" level:
THAT COULD BE ME!!!
And Bush has finally figured out how to make it personal.
Well, that and the gas prices.

When I heard about disasters in other countries exacting staggering death tolls, I used to think it would never be that bad here because we are a wealthy, developed nation who takes care of its people.
Well, obviously not.
But, some still think it couldn't be them 'cos they would have evacuated or because they are not sinful so God will protect them.

this is the result of tax cuts for the rich & corporations that have undermined our ability to deal with ANY disaster as a result of the disastrous policies of the neocons.
The chickens are coming home to roost & they have been transformed into vultures by the disastrous policies of the neocons.
US citizens are realizing that if any disaster strikes their area, they will be on their own to deal with it. And any preventive measures have been gutted by the disastrous policies of the neocons.

3. And if disaster strikes in my area, it would be me. |
|
Clearly, we can't expect any help from our government.

7. Yes, and hopefully the * supporters are realizing |

that he can't (or won't) make them safe. He played that to the hilt after 9/11, and used it again for re-election, through fear tactics.
Holy crap, if they feel safe with him now, they are complete robots.
