The Costco Gas Station was boarded up today....
Very little traffic or cars in the lot.

It was surreal picking up my weekly groceries and supplies.

There's something almost tangible in the air.

Fear?

I wonder how it felt in Germany as they watched Hitler rise to power?

5. I'm in Idaho....
You must get your petro from those refineries in the Gulf.

Our gas at Costco shot up to $2.86/unleaded ($3.09 supreme) - but the assistant attorny general was on TV last night stating there was absolutely no reason gas around town HERE should shoot up like it did because we do NOT get our gas from the Gulf. When gas at Costco is $2.86/gallon, it's at least a dime more elsewhere - and up.

17. I'm in Massachusetts
And the frigging gas was priced at $3.35 a gallon--just try to tell me that Massachusetts is stuck with gas from the Gulf.

22. Ours is up in California, too
and almost all of our gas is refined in-state because we have tougher emissions requirements than the neighboring states.

It's a f'ing rip-off.

And they will pay for that.

24. Blue company = they donate to DEM candidates
they also pay employees a living wage and treat them well. Wall Street keeps complaining about it. They treat employees well and Wall Street thinks that's a bad thing.

8. Out of Gas in North Carolina....

Talked to my Mom in N.C. yesterday. Gas station closed due to "no gas".

Prices here in Chicago have risen a minimum of 30 cents in the last 2 days.

9. Tom, which city in Alabama?
I'm in a suburb of Birmingham. I bought gas Thursday at Costco. It was $2.48, that was the day before the 50 cent jump. I haven't heard of any stations out of gas here yet. If Costco here shuts down its pumps, people are going to really start worrying.

A rumor went around Friday that there was no gas south of Montgomery. We called family down in Andalusia and that wasn't true. They do have limits down there, but there still seems to be gas.

My brother is an Alabama State Trooper and he's doing search and rescue/relief in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He has to drive a long way inland to get gas and sit in a line.

10. Plenty of gas here in North Georgia, especially
since Gov. Perdue suspended the gas tax through September. Average price is $2.99 a gallon for regular.

23. Not ALL of North Georgia
Driving through there today one station told us when they ran out of gas (expected today) in the pumps, they wouldn't get anymore for 3 days.

11. Your right there is something in the air

This is a little off topic. I live in the mountain pass containing interstate 15 which connects LA and Vegas. EVERY Friday traffic slows to a crawl with tens of thousands of folks heading to Vegas for weekend fun. I expected yesterday to be extra bad as its a long weekend. Instead, traffic was super light. So did 100K Californians cancel holiday there travel plans?

13. Communities which depend on tourism are going to
start to suffer. Unemployment will go up. We have a gazillion hotels in our little area, lots from major chains. I expect empty buildings.

The feds will not crack down on the gas companies--and Congress won't protect the people.

18. Yeah, Costco ran out of gas in Lancaster County, PA two days ago
I'm sure they've gotten a couple of deliveries since then ...they've got some of the cheapest gas around, so I figure people just hammered them till the gas ran out!

19. Yep fear
My husband was thinking about buying a locking gas cap. He went over to Walmart and was talking to a clerk. He told hubby that he was selling plenty of these today but it's not the only thing. My husband asked what else and the clerk mentioned that they sold every shotgun in stock today.
This was on Thursday.

20. St. Petersburg here
Exact same experience - no gas very few shoppers, though Barnes and Noble was packed and the health food store was busy. The man who is fixing our pool filter was grousing about "the powers that be" saying they want all the poor people dead for population control reasons.
