My letter to Congressman Brian Baird today...

I urge everyone here to write their Congressman/women/person today and start asking them some tough questions.

I want to know that what is happening this week in New Orleans can not and will not happen in my home town in the event we have a natural disaster or another terrorist attack.

Please feel free to poach as much as you wish to write you representative.

Congressman,

What the hell are you doing?

I have written to you and your office several times recently and have received no response. The Bush administration takes a 5 week vacation, oil prices are skyrocketing, and you have nothing to say. Our nation has lost the war in Iraq and we continue to put good money after bad in that country, and you remain silent!

Now we arguably have the largest national/natural disaster on our hands in 3 southern states and you are no where to be found. Did you just quit and not tell anyone? Hello?

What are we to do if a natural disaster hits our area? Rely on FEMA and our National Guard? How are we to respond in the event of a terrorist attack?

What are you doing Congressman? What are you doing about this charade of an administration? What are you doing about FEMA and the Homeland Defenseless dept? What are doing about the billions of tax dollars this administration has wasted on the debacle in Iraq? What you doing to make sure what is happening in New Orleans right now will never happen again?

I want answers Congressman!! And I want them now!!

2. Well, Baird isn't the Lone Ranger here.

Other than the Congressional Black Caucus and CongressCritters from LA, MS, AL, few are stepping up to the plate. I think that these kind of letters are essential to shaking things up a little bit during a time when the situation has been sufficiently shook up that changes may happen.
