California schools welcome refugee kids ->
from the LA Times 9-3-05:

(paraphrase the article) - so cal schools welcome kids from the disaster area as many from LA and MS have family out here from the (black) migration out of the south decades ago. even tho many of these kids/families will not have important papers (shot records, etc) the kids can still enroll and then get the medical requirements met. even if they are here to live with extended family that's ok (parents either still behind, missing, or deceased).

PS - front page article = "bush tries for damage control at a critical point". then again many view the Times as a liberal rag hehe.
