1. you would have to find out what the sample was. Who does it
matters too. Gallup will always skew high. Watch out for that.

27. Darth Rove is a master of manipulation
Nothing sticks to Bush because far too many people don't even realize how they are led around like cattle by Rove. If people actually thought about anything for more than 3 seconds before going back to shopping, playing Grand Theft Auto, eating cheeseburgers, and watching their DVDs we might have our country back. As it is, Americans are just totally anestitized.

7. Got to support the president
:sarcasm:

Americans pull together after tragedies- actually, every culture does, we're not special. The fact that his approval is that low is amazing.
Many non-political people just "Support the President" at times like this.

I hate to say it, but it's the $3.50 gas which is going to be Bush's undoing.

20. Teaser is right. Look at the Sept 2 data...
53% disapprove of Bush's performance, 40% approve.

Still, I don't think Bush will be hurt much by this. It all depends on what the Dems do, and Lordy we know by now, they won't do nuthin'.

31. Yes
This is two days old. The public mood is swinging away from bush by the hour. His staged bullshit performance yesterday did no good at all. Americans are groosly stupid when the press hides the facts. In this case they won't. It would not supprise me to see this bring bush down. Either that or he may have a real mental breakdown as the people turn against him. One thing he cannot tolerate is criticsm. Bob

16. That really isn't that good
During times of crisis, the nation often "rallies behind the leader." 46% approval in a time of crisis is not that good. If it were anyone else (even Bush 1), it would be in the 60s to 70s.

That makes it ANCIENT in the light of changing events.

Most of the data in that poll was taken TWO DAYS prior to people seeing babies die live on television.

21. One way to look at it
Normally there would be a real gathering of support behind the Government and the President. At 46% approval something is seriously amiss. And I wouldn't expect it fall strictly on party lines either.

There is a little box with edit on it, once you click to open your post, just click on the edit on the right hand side, bottom, and you can fix this.

34. After 9/11...
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 06:17 PM by magnolia
...his approval was in the 90's. Considering that it's normal for a president's approval to go up after a disaster. Considering that Gallup stretched it as far as they could and it's still well under 50%. Consider that most of the general public aren't obsessing over the details the way we are and saw him playing "hero". All things considered...those numbers don't look good for him.

On edit: Looked at the most recent poll. 40% during a time of disaster is very bad for him!

39. It's interesting to see the difference in the orig poll & the newer one. >
Hopefully his numbers will continue to slide and more Americans wake up to reality. It is very interesting that we're not seeing the "rally around the President" factor nearly as much as we usually do... but then again it's hard to rally around a man whose gross and blatent inactions caused so much destruction and death... even of babies. :grr:

BTW - Teri... please don't feel too bad, everyone makes mistakes and luckily someone caught that there was a newer one fairly quickly. :)
