A friend sent me this, which she got from a cousin in Baton Rouge:


Every thing Ok with us.Not good but Ok.

The coverage you are probably hearing from the national media about storm coverage seems to go through a filter, a series of prominent officials relating statistics about what they have done.
But there is another story happening NOW.There is a series of TV stations and also radio stations that have been put out of business that are grouped as one station in Baton Rouge that broadcast 24 hours a day that cover not only New Orleans and the Gulf coast, but ALL the areas not mentioned. There are untold horror stories that surpass anything the Tsunami had to offer. Maybe the national networks might handle this one.
(My wife trained at big Charity hospital in New Orleans.)Personnel carrying arms to protect themselves against dopeheads. Nurses living on 14 peanuts a day. Doctors feeding themselves intravenously to stay on their feet. No food or clean water. Shooting. Main operating room a morgue. Terrible stench......and the reports go on tonight.
News reports that the population of Baton Rouge,a focal point, is larger than the population of New Orleans. Gas shortages,restaurants shut down,traffic jams,no schools for kids,people everywhere with no money and no place to stay and no where to go.

When all the hoopla is over,this recovery has got to go down as one of the greatest failures in American history.

2. My God. WTF. Why isn't a squad of commandos dropped off

at major hospitals. They could gain control of the area and coordinate. food/water drops to the roof. They could communciate with talkies. I don't get it.

free market capitalism breaks down. The federal government should be taking charge of this situation and is unprepared to do so.
