What Christian radio is saying about the people of New Orleans.....
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 06:36 PM by Joanne98
THE REASON THEY'RE DYING IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE A WELFARE STATE MENTALITY AND THEY'RE WAITING FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO HELP THEM INSTEAD OF HELPING THEMSELVES!

Meet Ingrid Schlueter. Her name used to be Ingrid Gooseman. She hosts a show called Crosstalk on Christian Radio. She is on alone these days but when I used to listen to Crosstalk back in 1996 she was on with her "perverted" father alot. They would have shows about raising children and she would talk about how she "submits to her father" and he would talk about "spanking her on the butt" when she was a child. The Goosemans are a real sicko Christian family. Maybe even sicker than The Phelps. I listened to her show for a year(it was the only radio station I could get at work) and I never saw a picture of her until today. I was glad to find out she's as UGLY as she sounds.
Anyway, yesterday my sister was listening to her on the way home from work and heard her ranting about the "welfare state" mentality of the people trapped in New Orleans. She's also wrote a piece that I'm about to post, but believe me, it's tame compared to what she said on her show. I wanted to introduce Ingrid to DU because she's one of the reasons I HATE CHRISTIANS! Here she is.....

Anarchy in New Orleans Shows Moral Rot in Citizens

The news reports of anarchy in the streets of New Orleans tonight is even more horrifying than seeing the flood damage. When the Pilgrims got off the Mayflower into a howling wilderness with nothing but the Lord and their Bibles to guide them, they faced sickness and privation and they lost half of their people to death and disease. There was no government to help them. Men and women and children suffered unbelievably in their crude dwellings. They hung together and prayed and they survived that horrible first winter. Reading of the account now by William Bradford is enough to move you to tears. Tonight as unbelievably, urban warfare has broken out in the hurricane zone in voodoo loving New Orleans, the difference between the two groups couldn't be more stark. Absent a Christian ethic of concern for other people and moral character which puts women and children first, we have social chaos. This scene we are watching unfold in New Orleans is a case study in what happens to human beings without God. "Rage", not sorrow is the word in the media tonight describing these victims. Rather than kneel down as the Pilgrims did and pray for help, teenage boys are gang raping girls and snipers are shooting the helicopters that have come to help. It's Lord of the Flies in America the Beautiful; survival of the fittest in a scene so awful that movie producers in Hollywood would have a hard time equaling it. When you have a population of people who are taught in school that they are evolved from slime, who are taught to look to government rather than God for all their help in times of trouble, who have filled their minds with filth and violence on television and movies, who are taught to indulge every bodily impulse that seizes them and who are taught to take what they can get, this is what results when things get hard. Complete anarchy. The rape, looting, shootings and lawlessness that are breaking out are not the result of lack of water and food and medicine. They are the results of moral putrification beyond government remedy. If this disaster has shown us anything, it is that government will never be able to meet the biggest human need of all: the need for a Savior to save us from sin that otherwise will destroy us in this life and destroy our souls forever.

1. What about those rich people
who were stuck at the Marriott? Do they have a welfare mentality too? Or does Ms. Schlueter believe this only applies to the poor?

Conveniently ignoring the whole point of their holiday called Thanksgiving, when those people that "came out of the wilderness" gave them food and probably prevented the starvation of thousands of Pilgrims.

18. Thanks to Chief Massasoit
the Pilgrims didn't starve. And they wouldn't have lasted if they hadn't been helped by the Massasoits. The reason the Natives were so friendly was because they had recruited a fellow who had been to the New World before and knew something of the Native Americans (and had a way of talking himself out of jams). There WAS a government and leadership, and the hiring of Stephen Hopkins for helping with the natives is only one indication of this. Kindly remind these "Christians" of the Mayflower Compact and have them read a little history to find out the facts!

13. I Hate Christians
Well, at least the ones who hide behind the Bible and spread words like these like a disease. I stopped going to church 10 years ago because of the hypocrisy, and Ingrid Schuleter is Exhibit A.

What I really hate is how these people think the citizens of New Orleans brought it on themselves. I personally have been to New Orleans and the people I met are not good people. I thought they were great people!

Approximately 40% of the Bible teachings are about poverty, and I just want to say God did not forsake the hurricane victims. The theocracy in power turned their backs on them.

14. I'm tired of this stuff...
I'm getting a lot of sick e-mails about this crap today from freeper family connections. I have a generic reply....

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me." Then Jesus will turn to those on His left hand and say, "Depart from me because I was hungry and you did not feed me, I was thirsty and you did not give me to drink, I was sick and you did not visit me." These will ask Him, "When did we see You hungry, or thirsty or sick and did not come to Your help?" And Jesus will answer them, "Whatever you neglected to do unto one of these least of these, you neglected to do unto Me!"

*******************

We can concentrate on the thugs, or we can concentrate on the law-abiding victims, more numerous by far, who are trying as best they can to help each other and who -- rightly or wrongly -- feel betrayed by a lack of action. I have read about acts of heroism among the victims and their rescuers. I have read about selflessness. Nobody is tossing around e-mails about the poor victims who are acting heroically, who have given their lives for others.

Yes, there has been looting. Yes, there has been crime. Yes, crime is wrong. But, this is not waiting in line for water after Hurricane Isabel with your neighbors, most of whom have credit cards and family elsewhere to fall back on. This is being poor and neglected and and waist-deep in foul water and turned away from trying to leave the city. This is watching tourists evacuated while they were not permitted to do so. This is having seen no water or food or rescue for four days. This is trying to keep one's child alive on a hot freeway surface while well-fed reporters asked stupid questions and offer no help.

We can explain away upper-class crime, often white, because it isn't easy to show the videotapes of the accountants fudging the numbers, and the victims aren't immediately or violently affected. We can tsk-tsk and forgive the lies from our politicians, even the lies that kill thousands of children in far away lands. We can cheat on our taxes, pocketing an extra thousand or so - nobody will know. We can steal votes and offer bribes. But damn those poor people - they're the real criminals.

Racism, or, more accurately, classism is not always obvious. Class prejudice is subtle at times, but is sometimes evidenced by an inability to separate the innocent victims of a race or a class from its criminals: "They" must not want to be saved, because "they" are shooting at helicopters. "They" are in moral breakdown, because some of "them" are looting needlessly.

Class prejudice also may be seen in the attitude that says that "they" should have evacuated, and so "they" have no right to complain, while completely ignoring what it is like to live in poverty. Finally, a sadly prevailing attitude among those endorsing soft classism is the villification of poverty, as if the poor are poor because of character defects.

To those who do believe that poverty is a character defect, please do some research what it means to be working poor. The U.S. census confirms that over one-hundred thousand people in New Orleans have no cars. Many did not have the cash resources necessary for motels, transportation, etc. Many thought they would have lost their low-wage jobs for missing a day or so of work. There are no sick days in low-wage jobs. Missing a day of work might be the difference between paying the rent or eviction.

Instead of passing around mean-spirited e-mails, lets all get out there and organize assistance for the victims, volunteer when we can, and donate as we can. It's a much better way to spend one's time

Wary of the Stories of New Orleans Rampaging

By Lee Russ, Section Diaries
Posted on Fri Sep 02, 2005 at 09:03:49 AM EST

Television coverage of New Orleans is heavy with tales of absolute lawlessness, including a widely reported sniper shot at a rescue helicopter. I don't doubt that looting has occurred, nor that some of it is for "luxury" goods not just necessities. But I do have a lot of skepticism about the type and degree of lawlessness being portrayed.

Now it turns out that Laura Brown, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman in Washington, has cast doubt on the report of the firing on the helicopter. She said she had no such report.

"We're controlling every single aircraft in that airspace and none of them reported being fired on," she said, adding that the FAA was in contact with the military as well as civilian aircraft.

from http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=1087205

It's probably good to keep in mind that the last two major disasters of this scale, the Galveston hurricane of 1900 (some 6,000 dead) and the late 1800s Johnstown, PA flood (2,200 fatalities), both involved false reports of "minority" savagery, Blacks and Eastern Europeans supposedly rampaging and cutting off the fingers of the dead to get their rings. All or most of these stories, many reported in the respectable press of the time, are now believed to have been completely untrue or wildly exaggerated.

In fact, an unpublished paper presented at a conference states that social scientists investigating claims of looting at & after national disasters inevitably find little evidence to back up the claims. See "LOOTING IN DISASTER: A GENERAL PROFILE OF VICTIMIZATION," Jane Gray and Elizabeth Wilson of the Disaster Research Center of The Ohio State University
(August, 1984).

she does look like she's either on meds or been abused to me. She actually reminds me of so many other cowed Stepfordish fundie wives I met many many years ago when married (briefly) to a fundie myself... ::shudder::

Thank you for posting the picture ... it's always interesting to put a face to a name.

79. :-) I've never heard her which I'm thinking is a good thing...
since I have borderline high blood pressure already. ;)

Unfortunately for those who truly try to live according to the teaching of Jesus, it's not always easy to remember, when faced with such loud and obnoxious pseudo "Paulian" christians, that not all who call themselves "christian" are true "Christians". Heck, I know Pagans that are more "Christian" in the way they act and live then those RW "Paulians".

48. Read her previous column
This hate-filled "Christian" also made a statement about the hurricane similar to the one that Falwell made about 9/11.

God Speaks in the Winds of A Hurricane

There is an old English hymn that is never sung anymore in the Disney-fied churches of America. The words go like this:

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform,
He plants his footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

The city of New Orleans is in ruins. Nearly half a million people are without homes or the basic needs of life. Once pristine and gleaming office towers and hotels are collapsing ruins, only gaping holes where plate glass windows used to be. The bars that just a few days ago had drunks staggering and vomiting their way out the the doors are closed and will have to be torn down. The strip joints that drew men and women of the most vile lusts and passions are empty shells. No broken, depraved and sin-sick individuals will fulfill their lusts there today. The Southern Decadence Days have been canceled. Over 10,000 homosexuals were scheduled to descend on the city in a non-stop orgy of perversion and sodomy Labor Day weekend. The party's off. A video taken by taxpayers at last year's event showed homosexuals engaging in sex openly on the streets. The police turned their backs and the city organizers promoted this year's event with gusto. Only it isn't going to take place after all. The casinos where gamblers from across the state would gather to throw their money away in a frenzy of greed are now up to the rafters in stinking flood waters. The slot machines are rusting beneath 10 feet of water in some cases. The machines won't take anyone's money today. The mayor of the Big Easy is calling for prayer.

54. Oh man, I didn't see that. Thanks. You should listen to her show .....
I listen for an entire year because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She's worse than Phelps. She worse because she talks about all kinds of subjects. Not just gays. Phelps is a one issue idiot. Ingrid attacks everything. Especially goverment programs that help the poor because "Jesus hates taxes". Don't ya know.

BARF! I'm thinking about starting an "I hate Ingrid" club though. If she keeps spouting off about New Orleans I just might.

53. Authoritarian - Subservient mindset
All across the south, regardless of color. That's why 1,000 guys with boats LEFT instead of KNOWING that there was nothing anybody could do to stop them from helping in New Orleans. That's why it's taking so long to get help to Mississippi, waiting for the government to tell them they CAN GO. It isn't a welfare mindset, it's a subservient mindset that comes from "yes maam no maam" and paternalistic religions. And it's also why they're more concerned with something getting stolen than people dying. God "blessed" those with money so those people and their "stuff" are naturally worth more. That society is just weird and I don't care who says I'm stereotyping.

57. That's another concept she markets. Submit to the rich. God loves them
MORE! God blesses the rightous by making them properous. Submit to their authority. It's the whole Divine Right of Kings doctrine. Poor people are Demon possessed. The rebellious are demon possessed too. She may be ugly but she's a master at marketing techniques.

61. anytime someone tells me they are Christian, I turn
and run like hell in the other direction! I know that they are either going to lie, cheat or steal, and maybe all three in a short period of time.

Yikes they are despicable!

What happened to the Jesus thought of "love God with all your heart and that you love your neighbor as you love yourself". As I read this, I see that the real problem is that they (Christians) don't love themselves. In fact it seems they loathe themselves and show the entire planet their hatred. They are withered stunted husks of humans whose shriveled hearts don't even pump enough blood to cleanse their brains. Pathetic.

67. Maybe these "Christians" should look up Matthew 25:31-46.
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 07:51 PM by ocelot
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was hungy, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

73. That kind of Christianity leaves me speechless.
And about the pilgrims, if she knew her history, she'd know that the pilgrims wouldn't have made it through the first winter without the help of the Native Americans giving them welfare in the form of food and teaching them how to grow native food for the next spring, summer and winter.
