Just caught the tail end on MSNBC......
it was Rita Cosby (like everyone else, can't take her voice). She was talking to a red-haired gentleman (Van Heerden?), and he was saying everyone in LA did their job...that Congress needs to take a look outside LA and assess blame.

She ended the segment by saying something about interesting "new facts" have come to light about how they (FEMA, Feds) were warned.

Hmmm...........

It is so annoying.

2. The man she was talking to
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 06:47 PM by jbnow
had done a "dry run" with fema last year and they talked about exactly how it would go, how quickly rescue would need to begin. They had talked about and worked on everything that turned out to happen.

And because they knew he felt they allowed needless deaths.

3. Caught more of it, but not the name. He said there was a meeting
and FEMA, Defense Department and WHITE HOUSE rep, were fully briefed on scenario, need for help, need for tent cities, etc. Response was "Americans don't live in tents."

5. He is a professor at LSU
He was responsible for the "Hurricane Pam" drill last year. He included in his interview that he had FEMA, State Reps, and staff from WH prsent during his scenario, even created a CD for WH staff to bring back to review. He clearly was saying that the people to blame "are outside the state". I hope he will give sworn testimony!
He was completely disgusted and VERY crediable.

6. Its Homeland Security Dep - you guys missing the picture

FEMA had their authority removed last year. They report to HLS. They were instructed not to do further planning this year, that it was now the responsibility of HLS.

HLS is in charge and calling the shots.
