Are FEMA website pages disappearing - please help me check
I may be nuts, or not tech-savvy enough, but I was looking for the FEMA's Initial Notice of Disaster on their website just now, and it said there were no notices available.

I check my cache, and there it was.

I copied the pages to another location, and compared them. I'm I missing something here?
(other than sleep? which WOULD account for my confusion!)

I wanted to post my copies for you to look at, but don't know how to post an image that doesn't have a URL.

6. No, I mean the Louisiana one. Look under Disaster Fed Register
notices on the page you have for Alabama, and you'll find the inital notice.

If you check LA, it says there is no initial notice on file. But I have a cached copy.

You meant this page.
http://www.fema.gov/news/eventdfrns.fema?id=4808

CYA is a popular game, especially when you have as much ass exposed as FEMA does right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly rescinded any official notices until they get their ducks all in a row.

4. The early reports of Mission Accomplished were sanitized
so why not the FEMA reports? This bunch will stop at nothing to keep their image the way they want it to be seen.

15. Everything you find now says Major combat operations
but thank goodness some of us remember what the little king really said that day. That was when the flowers were to be strewn in the paths of the tanks coming in, and the Iraqi's were to dance in the streets so happy to be liberated. I think dubya watched too many movies of the liberation of Paris......he has such delusions.

17. do you/does anyone have a screen save or whatever of the original???

20. All I have is this.......
And at the top it says: George W. Bush: Announces the End of Combat Operations in Iraq

There is a real audio of the speech but it has "major" put in ( I can't get it to play anymore ) and the speech text has been altered to say "major combat operations". How they missed the top is beyond me, but they did.

7. Can someone tell me how to post my cached page?
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 08:40 PM by backtotheuniverse
So I can show you guys what I mean? Maybe it's still there, on the website, and I can't find it. I don't want to sound any false alarms. I may just be mistaken.

12. Their 2004 archives for the LA region are also hidden
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 08:53 PM by clmbohdem
Maybe they are just slack, but 2004 is missing from their archives at:

http://www.fema.gov/regions/vi/ndeskarch.shtm

To see 2004, you have to select another year, then manually change the year to 2004 in the Explorer Address bar, then press GO.

Here is the manually edited link for 2004

19. Here's the current page and the cached page:
First, the cached page:

Same page today:
http://www.fema.gov/news/eventdfrns.fema?id=4808

I compared the three doc's posted on the cached page, as they are today, to my cached copies of those doc's and found no changes, so I'm not sure what the reason for moving them was, other than to make them harder to find. Here are the links to them:

http://www.fema.gov/news/dfrn.fema?id=4489
http://www.fema.gov/news/dfrn.fema?id=4464
http://www.fema.gov/news/dfrn.fema?id=4484

I'll put this post in the LIHOP thread too.

Thanks for showing me how to do this, salvorhardin, now I have some skills :)
