Will There Be Congressional Hearings?
I want to hear people testify. People who were on the ground. Including Anderson Cooper, Shep Smith, that woman reporter who early on broke down on the air, the mayor of NO and even Geraldo. And then the citizens. Oh yes, the citizens of NOLA.

1. Yes but I keep hearing not until after everyone is rescued....
They aren't going to do anything until then or aren't planning on it.

2. WHERE WAS CONGRESS ALL WEEK?
What good will congressional hearings do? After the WH, they're the dudes with any power in this country. What did they do for NO?

15. The fix is already in
LIEberman & Collins have already announced that they will be leading the Congressional investigation.

It will look like Senselessbummer's hearing's on the patriot act. :grr:

16. Ugh, that just can't happen.
Have we hit the point where we can no longer count on the majority of the government to find and tell the truth?

Hell yes we have.

18. Impeachment
I hope Conyers and the CBC investigate the indifference and incompetence (read criminally negligent homocide on a mass scale) by the racist plutocrats in the WH.

Then we get impeachment and conviction. After that, real criminal trials.

25. They were on vacation.
Have been for August.

What have they done for NOLA?

What they've done for the other areas. They passed a $10 billion appropriations bill that * submitted. More appropriations bills are expected.

22. Frist has demanded an investigation!
He knew he might as well! The very least good the hearings will do is to erode Bush's credibility and job approval to a new low. Maybe low enough to get something done about the sad state of affairs! The fact is most Americans see now, that they are just a flood, tornado, earthquake or a hurricane, away from being in the same shape those poor people from New Orleans are in right now. America is not secure and it's Bush's fault!

Bush can't erase the fact that he blew it! He failed America on 9/11 and covered it up, but he can't run away from this. The congressional record will record Bush's ineptitude for the generations to come. If his GOPer buddies in congress don't start to bail out on Bush pretty soon, they'll be history too...

26. Plus the fact that maybe now Frist and other '08 RNC Presidential
hopefuls will be starting the attack on the Bush family in hopes of pumping up their own status and garnering votes for the primaries?
Just supposing.

27. Baloney. Goggle it; Obama was traveling with
Richard Lugar supposedly; they got caught up in airport security which can be a mess in any country at the best of times. Perhaps because Obama is black, he was suspect.

So much info has been flying, I don't remember if I read it in an article on-line or saw it on the news.

I'll do a search and see if I can find a link

11. Jeanne Meserve, CNN reporter, is the woman you
referred to who broke down, I think. BTW, I agree, lots of testimony needs to be public record.

13. No, there will be a "special panel"
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 09:15 PM by jim3775
It will be headed up by Trent Lott (talking point:"who better than somebode who personally expierenced loss") and stacked with only DINO bootlickers. No one will testify under oath and the report will be a whitewash.

14. It seems that every time there's a congressional...
anything, it amounts to cover-up. I don't trust any part of the federal government. Something must be done but the legal apparatus appears incapable of meting out justice to these thugs. I wish there were some constitutional scholars that could find a way to prosecute outside of the traditional routes.

20. I want these parents to testify
why their babies died because a .30 cent bottle of electrolye solution and water was not available at an emergency shelter they were told to go to.

"Three babies died at the convention center from heat exhaustion, said Mark Kyle, a medical relief provider."

21. Only if Chimpy allows them
The Republican-controlled Congress won't make a move unless the corrupt Bush administration okays it. I know that Collins and Lieberman are making noises like they want to hold hearings, but if Frist and Hastert say no (following their master's orders), then no hearings will be held in either the Senate or the House.

Another criminal episode swept under the carpet.

24. I look forward to Congressional Hearings...
Collins and Lieberman could start with hearings on the poor responses to the Katrina disaster, then that could lead to bigger things. Who knows what it could lead to? Special investigations? Impeachment?

28. This should go beyond impeachment as far as I'm concerned.
Bush going isn't enough unless every last one of his thugs goes with him. We've long speculated on who has the real control, but we KNOW they're all speaking the same bullshit.
