9. AArrgghhhh! I saw her on Oprah once and was definitely turned off
by her 'self-serving' attitude. And THAT wedding and all the fuss over her baby. Enough already. I did feel badly when her husband was going through his cancer treatments.
I don't begrudge her the money she has accumulated, but it seems that she likes to show-off a bit too much for my taste.

33. I didnt see that
attitude at all in this interview.....not at all, in fact it seemed that she really made a point to say that her million dollar donation was nothing compared to what they need which she pointed out is ........water.

I thought it was great......Richard Simmons on the other hand made me ill with his little "oh can I take a few seconds to say a prayer?" and I felt nothing from that, it was bullshit!

10. Yes she is
She's asking the questions I want to ask. She wants to know why every time she turns on the tv in the morning there are still people needing help and dying. She donated 1 million and still feels guilty that she's not doing enough.

36. She is one of "our" most famous Liberals here, actually ;-)
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 09:48 PM by Amonester
In fact, if it wasn't for her husband, I'm pretty sure she would get herself "involved" in politics, but he's been there for too long (not really her fault... she was so young then, and her and her (poor) family wanted her to "succeed" so much, they practically "BEGGED" him to become her "manager" at the time)

She comes from a very modest (but very good-hearted) family.

He "managed" to make her "succeed" and kind of "controlled" her political "emotions" quite effectively since she was very young.

All I can say is bravo Celine for speaking your "true" feelings!!

47. Yes, I am serious. Many (not all) French speaking Canadians
use that "Frenglish" expression in and around Montreal, but not everywhere in Quebec. Celine Dion was reared in a little suburban township north of Montreal called Charlemagne.

For her using that typical expression was probably just a mistake due to her emotional state of the moment. After all, she only learned the English language partially in school, and later on just before she recorded her first song in English taking private lessons when she was in her late teen years (as far as I know).

She really meant to say "Gee-whiz" but "slipped" it into "Cheese whiz" (Quebecois 'slang': very 'regional': not used across the province: lest across French speaking Canada).

omigod.. she's very emotional, but she's speaking from the heart and not holding back on nailing awol bush for going into iraq to kill people but he can't help people here in this country..

god bless her!!

The money and resources sent to Iraq for a lie.

43. yeah Larry was definitely not comfortable. She'd been holding it in
as she said and just let it out...on national tv. What so many of us had been thinking. Rather than patting herself on the back for bravely giving a million bucks as some might do, she was just frustrated and outraged at what had been allowed to happen. Even I was surprised when she threw in Iraq. A completely human reaction for anyone who can empathize with another's plight.

46. It was a gift to humanity that Celine
had the knowledge to say that about "Iraq"!

"Even I was surprised when she threw in Iraq. A completely human reaction for anyone who can empathize with another's plight."

A koolaid drinker yelled at me and my friend(she overheard us talking about it) the other day that .."THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ISN'T GOD..THEY CAN'T DO EVERYTHING!!"

I "threw in Iraq", too, when I said..bush slashed the funding for the levees and gave it to Iraq.."AND I KNOW THEY'RE NOT GOD..THEY'RE THE FURTHEST THING FROM IT!"
