See if the Honor Society kids can do something for this- they raise and gather up stuff all the time. This would be especially appropriate. Thanks for the info.

12. My ten-year-old is going to bring this up at school on Tuesday |
|
He may be young but anybody that has met him will agree that he is persuasive and a mover and shaker. Dimes to doughnuts, his grammar school will act by the end of the week. He says they asked for donations for relief on Friday, but he wants to focus on, and do something specifically for, the kids from the Big Easy.
Solly Mack, thanks for planting the idea in my son's mind.

Texas PTA Members Are Reaching Out to Help Children of the Storm Refugees
Thousands of people from hurricane disaster areas are going to be evacuated to Texas, especially to the Houston areas. Many of those are going to be children, and those children are going to be allowed in Texas public schools. The Texas Education Agency and the local school districts are scrambling to find space, supplies and textbooks for what could be as many as 10,000 students.
Texas PTA is collecting cash donations to purchase school supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, etc. Donations can be mailed to the Texas PTA at 408 West 11th Street, Austin, TX 78701-2113 or thanks to assistance from Kintera, donations can be submitted online with a credit card by visiting www.txptaKatrina.Kintera.org. For additional information, visit www.txpta.org or call 1.800.TALK PTA.
