Rehnquist death = LIBERAL MAJORITY!
Yes, my condolences to Rehnquist's family.

And my condolences to the THOUSANDS of people who have lost relatives in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

FILIBUSTER! MAINTAIN A LIBERAL MAJORITY!

2. I'll second that!
Resolving the crisis in the Gulf region is priority one.

NO ACTION ON ROBERTS until hearings into the failure of DHS and FEMA are completed.

NO ACTION ON ROBERTS until all of his papers are released by the White House.

FILIBUSTER!

FILIBUSTER!

FILIBUSTER!

FILIBUSTER!

FILIBUSTER!

14. We will be lucky to get enough Senators to filibuster
Yes Bush looks incompetent now, but in two weeks the victims of Katrina will be forgotten by most Americans. The sheeple will go back to church and hear how important it is to prevent gay marriage and then any effort by the Dems to filibuster will make us look like the problem. I truly hope you are right. I just live among the sheeple and I know all too well how they think.

11. Well we knew Bush was going to get this second seat
but much better now, at what is to this point the lowest point in his presidency than say November of 2001, when he could have gotten Rick Santorum's German shepherd confirmed to the court. Bush is weaker now, moderate Republicans are worried about their own hides. No chance he can jam through anyone as bad as Rehnquist was right now.

12. Not if we FIGHT and FIGHT HARD.
This is the BIG wake-up call to Democrats -- on the Hill, on K Street, at the DNC and at the Netroots and grassroots.

Bush is incompetent. He's PROVEN this week that we are NOT prepared for teh worst -- that he's truly all hat, no calttle. His incompetence cost THOUSNADS of people their lives.

That is a HIGH CRIME.

And Republicans are starting to realize that.

Priority one is getting at the root of the failures in the leadu to and wake of Katrina. That means PUTTING SUPREME COURT NOMINATIONS ASIDE. This is a matter of NATIONAL SECURITY -- and this is the BEST way that Democrats can STEAL that number one issue from the Bush Dynasty and the GOP. Bush has FAILED TO SECURE AMERICA. He should be IMPEACHED.

It's TIME TO TAKE BACK AMERICA.

THIS IS OUR OPENING.

5. Well, let's become Washington political brokers. I mean, let's
do this the way it's ACUALLY done in Washington D.C. Let's call Bush and tell him that instead of spending the rest of his life in Federal prison, we'll allow him to spend his days in exile in an exotic land like France if he let's the Dems pick the next two Supreme Court judges? Whadaya say?

15. What's going on down south is ALL about politics!
Bush's decision to steal money from New Orleans levy construction to pay for his Lie-based Feud of Choice with Saddam is a political, moral, and national security issue.

NO NEW JUSTICES -- FILIBUSTER NOW!!!

17. I think the deal is off
Two vacancies at once certainly qualifies as extraordinary circumstances. The filibuster should be back on the table.

Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 06:52 AM by konighunDU
Sure, let's us use the filibuster, and they will whip out the nuclear option. Can we at least wait until the honorable Judge is in the ground? Show his family a little respect....

20. Exactly what I thought too !! Filibuster time
Seven is just as good an odd number as nine, bucko.

NO MORE OPUS DEI ON THE SUPREME COURT !!!
(there's two already, and only 70,000 of them in the entire US)
They are over-represented as it is !!

21. Yup.
And if they go nuclear, the Dems should make good on their promise to shut the f*cker down. No more legislation getting through the U.S. Senate. No more pork, no more pandering to social conservatives. Nothing.

I seem to recall a major poll out last week where the majority of voters were criticising the Dems for not acting like an actual opposition party. With the public moving even more to the left in the wake of the Katrina catastrophe, the Dems would have more support for such an endeavour. I can only imagine the public support they'd have if they were to show a bit of gonadal fortitude!

Of course, this is all in my little fantasy land. They'll bend over and take it again from the GOP.
