The difference between 9/11 & Katrina in a nutshell. |
|
9/11: Either they knew it or they blew it -- big time.
Katrina: They definitely knew it AND they definitely blew it -- even bigger.

2. New Orleans Times-Picayune from 2002 |

They saw it coming. A lot of us did. We just hoped against hope that some sort of rational planning was underway in preparation for the eventual Category 5. Oooooops.

3. And wait til the body count estimates begin--20,000+ in New Orleans alone |
|
wouldn't surprise me. A lot of people are assuming it's a thousand or two, and they are in for a shock. I believe it was the Red Cross that estimated a day before the storm that if New Orleans flooded, the death toll will be 40,000-60,000. That might not be far off.
Most of the dead will not have been killed the day of the storm, but instead by the bush administration. In a couple of weeks, when the enormity of this horror sinks in, the grief and the outrage will overcome the bush admin. When you're own propaganda department (Faux) starts turning on you, you know you're fucked.
