68. Ya think?
If he was, 9/11, and this disaster would never, ever have happened. Nor the gutting of our Treasury, Iraq, etc., etc., etc.

If he is, please... give us some proof for hope, 'cause right about now I have none anymore.

in 2001 in Gainesville, FL. Other DUers are trying to find out how * knew them, which apparently from some video someone here has on DVD there was a conversation between them that was edited on rebroadcast indicating they asked him how their family was.

If Gore was president 9/11 wouldn't have happened, we wouldn't be in Iraq and when this happened he would've helped New Orleans and they would've had their national guard and surrounding states and people would've been saved much faster. *sigh* I always wonder what might be....

I'm a huge fan of Gore's and even supported him for his first presidential run, but don't forget, he would not be who he is today if what happened to him in 2000 did not happen.

I don't think we've seen the last of Al Gore, but the 2000 experience turned him to he is today. It removed the handcuffs from his wrists and set him free.

Gore has always been interested in disaster relief. He has a lot of experience on that field -- unlike Bush. He visited many disaster areas personally and he learned a lot over the years. He would have brought that experience to the presidency. And that has nothing to do with dimpled chads or Scalia.

62. Think you might have missed my point....
I've been following Gore since his first presidential run way back in 88. He was the candidate I was rooting for instead of Dukakis, but from then and until 2000, Gore was too cautious and hid his wonderful passion way too much. If you doubt this, look back to the terrible way he was portrayed - wooden, robotic, non-caring, et cetera. We knew who he was but that wasn't enough.

I'm not saying he hasn't cared about disaster relief all along, but that sometimes a terrible ass kicking is needed to free people from their inhibitions. It can be a very humbling and releasing thing.

Gore has become a better person for it, which someday might be good for all of us (this of course is not negating all the damage that the Bushies have done to the US).

118. Gore must be made of honed steel, or of fire and ice now --
because what does not kill you, makes you stronger. He's got some kind of karmic volcano built up -- so look out world. He is gracious and full of light and love, but think back in time to the year 2000 when he was robbed, insulted and abused wrongfully.

I want to have the privilege of watching when this whole thing comes full circle. A thousand blessings of fulfillment on Al Gore and his family!

Gore declines to take the credit unlike *some* people. Know what I mean? This is the beautiful thing: <Passengers on the plane say they talked with former Vice President Al Gore, but he didn't make his presence known here in East Tennessee.

He stayed on the plane, saying he didn't want to add politics to the rescue mission, though there are reports he paid for it.>

A true Samaratain. *sigh* Our mayor in Chattanooga has been doing great too with help and a local church down the road from me opened their doors for people to stay and give them food and all that. I'm so proud to be a Tennesseean with people like Al Gore. He makes the word "volunteer" great.

65. Al Gore: Our Real Leader is Absolutely Right!
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 02:26 AM by AuntiBush
This is who should be in second term right now. This is who our real President should have been. And to think, Vice President Al Gore did all of this on his own time, out of his own pocket, and not wanting any fanfare.

A leader. Our leader. What a leader is suppose to do for their people.

Thank you so much, Vice President Al Gore. You're up there in the ranks of what FDR would have done during a time of crises!

After all of this, I'm sorry DU'ers but this is the man that will get my vote in 2008! Not Hillary, but Gore. I hope every DUer thinks long and hard about this.

How about: Gore/Clark? Gore/Edwards? I dunno and I don't care, but GORE, where he rightly belongs. That is, if we can "SURVIVE" another "how many years?" Perish that thought. At this rate, we're all hanging on the side of a cliff "daily!"

She and her husband Hal Holbrook were at the Astrodome, being interviewed by Greta.

Dixie went on and on about the generosity of Texans, and how wonderful they are, and how she hoped against hope that folks from her native Tennessee would eventually reach out and help the victims.

This interview took place around 8:15 pm tonight, long after it was well-known about Al Gore's flight.

Isn't that interesting...?

When the media whores called Florida for Gore, I literally ran through my house, dancing and singing at the top of my lungs. And then the nightmare began. The nightmare that continues today.

We can never get back to our former greatness now. The best we can hope for is sheer survival as a nation. But Gore still gives me hope that our better natures will prevail, and the U.S.A. will endure.

Maybe, somehow, by some special act of Congress, the clearly demonstrable theft of the presidency in 2000 can be reversed and this man can take his rightful place.

Stranger things have happened. Not often I grant you, but they have. And we live in the most extraordinary times I have ever seen.

Al Gore... taking care of 'the least of these'...

Haven from fury Mercy Flight Brings Evacuees to ET
Gore accompanies about 140 arrivals from New Orleans but declines to take credit

By ROBERT WILSON, rlwilson2594@msn.com
September 4, 2005

(excerpt)

About 140 people - mostly elderly and infirm - arrived Saturday at McGhee Tyson Airport on a chartered mercy flight from hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, welcomed to East Tennessee by a bright sun and a host of medical professionals straining at the reins to help their fellow human beings without regard to whether they were on the clock.

The displaced hurricane victims came to Tennessee on a hastily arranged flight, accompanied by doctors and carrying whatever they had in boxes, bags or, in one case, an old suitcase tied up with rope.

Former Vice President Al Gore arranged the flight and was on board, but he declined to take credit for the airlift, fearing it would be "politicized."

<snip>

Gore chartered the plane, but, Spickard said, "we'll decide who pays for it later."

In the place he should have been for the last eight...

Please, Al - we need you, we need your ability to lead, your understanding of the mechanisms of government. We need your knowledge of global warming and climate change, your ideas for getting us on a path to a better tomorrow. You are the only one of our party who has consistently spoken for us, the people, over the last eight years. You are the one with the experience, the intelligence and the understanding of the complex issues we face and will continue to face.
The ineptitude of our selected pResident, his corrupt administration, and the incompetence of their policies have brought America to a perilous place; our very democracy herself is threatened, and the people need a true leader. That leader is you; it was you in '00, in '04, and we are yours now if you will take us.

Now there's a true American hero.

No media "event." No talk show parade.

A man of the people.

143. President Gore - getting the job done
Even though he's not officially recognized, he did win 2000, and in my book, he is my president. And what a great president he is. He hasn't run up the deficit, hasn't attacked any foreign countries, but makes sure sick people get out of New Orleans. What a great, great man. Gore 2008!

153. I always thought that Clinton should have
resigned so Gore could have taken over and been the 'incumbent.' People would have seen him as the President and voted for him.

Sorry, I'm still pissed at Clinton.

I have always liked Al Gore.
