Christiane Amanpour says US response better in foreign countries than here
Just saw a clip of her on the replay of Larry King.

Larry was asking her how this disaster compares to the many international disasters she's witnessed. She said, among other things, that what is so amazing is that she has seen almost instantaneous American relief response in other countries before, like emergency airlifts.

I hope they keep talking about that, it really hammers home just how FUCKED UP all this is.

1. I didn't hear this, but nom. for the truth by Amanpour.
What happened? Well, we know what happened and who dropped the ball, now we have to convict them for their incompetence. I wish.

4. Thank you. That was my recollection as well: US has in past responded
more quickly providing foreign assistance than it has for our own in this case.

6. That's because they can get something from other countries
but the people in NOLA have nothing to give the gov't.

9. Well, that backfired. This current US gov't will
not get away with what they have done, not if we all have anything to say about it! That should be our mantra!

17. All Kidding Aside.
I sincerely think "this" disaster has crossed all party, culture, belief lines with Americans. I mean that. Only a very few will be left with their arrogant rants and ignorance this time 'round.

If Bush & the Republiacans jump on this one and/or some Religious Right-Wingers start praising God for what they already were praying for "now," and for a long time to come, I don't think this country is going to stand for it any longer.

Then again, maybe I'm just being disgustingly hopeful, once again.

Yeah. Let me wake back up to the sad reality.

7. yeah
And notice how quickly King cut her off - and they didn't return to her in a 3 hour program.

Can't criticize any of King's many Republican pals.

I want to know if he still thinks racism is a non-issue after watching this.

11. She was hot, she was persevering, and she wanted her message heard
Larry was absolutely pathetic in being unable to stop her/ though he tried/ and after her little rant asked her how one can best help.

If she were not such a lady, she would have castrated him, I could tell.

She proceeded then to tell him about the need for water, food, medicine, and finally in exaperation looked at him and said: Rescue.

I Loved her always, now I love her more :)

19. Yes, that, too, the people of Mississippi should not be let
forgotten. They, too, were ill-served by the bush admin in their lack of response.
