Planned Guerrilla War?
I thought on the Today Show yesterday they said evidence was found in Iraq that Saddam had planned to "lose" and then continue with Guerrila warfare. Did anybody else hear that?

1. Well, think about it
Saddam had no choice but to do this. He had no sea superiority, no chance to effect any air superiority, which is the keystone for modern combat operations, and his army has not had an equipment upgrade since the last time the US trounced all over them. He would be suicidal to not withdraw and do a guerilla war. In the muslim world guerilla war has been the most effective form of warfare for them in the 20th century (algiers vs. the french, afghanistan vs. the russians, israeli's vs. the british, ect.) Other than using WMD...which he obviously didn't have..., or just plain giving up, this is his only option.

2. If you know that and I know that --
Why doesn't Rummy know that. It seems like a pretty basic plan. How could they be taken by surprise? Oh, I know, they are stupid. They believe their own lies.

4. Ultimately a nefarious plan but yes...
...all those GI's outfitted with fresh ordnance & gear routinely (if while however sparsley; got to balance that budget you know...) does wonders for their defense stock protfolios. Bush has brother and uncles that no one ever thinks about in positions of 'profit for death'. So long as they don't have to crawl through 'ths shit' it is deemed a reasonable risk/benefit/return mechanism.

L. Paul Bremer is, in fact, a corporate risk/benefit/return mechanism analyst go figure. A civilian in Army Issue combat boots. All of which goes into a portfolio somewhere.

Many corporations made millions in Vietnam. Also a protracted, some would say: "Planned Guerrilla War"
