Passengers on the plane say they talked with former Vice President Al Gore, but he didn't make his presence known here in East Tennessee.

He stayed on the plane, saying he didn't want to add politics to the rescue mission, though there are reports he paid for it.

The plane is overnighting in Dallas but will fly more patients from New Orleans to Chattanooga Sunday.

4. Wasting gas...
...and WITHHOLDING aid until he could stage a photo op, and then, when the photographers left, WITHDRAWING the fake aid...

The man needs to be on trial along with Saddam and Pinochet and Milosevic...

5. Air Force One
had a lot of space and Bush's personal doctor who travels everywhere with him could have provided medical attention. They could have transported a couple of hundred sick people and their next-of-kin to Washington DC hospitals.

What a great PR event it would have been. Karl R., you're losin' that magic touch. Plame investigation on your mind these days?

Haven from fury Mercy Flight Brings Evacuees to ET

Gore accompanies about 140 arrivals from New Orleans but declines to take credit

By ROBERT WILSON

(snip)

About 140 people - mostly elderly and infirm - arrived Saturday at McGhee Tyson Airport on a chartered mercy flight from hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, welcomed to East Tennessee by a bright sun and a host of medical professionals straining at the reins to help their fellow human beings without regard to whether they were on the clock.

The displaced hurricane victims came to Tennessee on a hastily arranged flight, accompanied by doctors and carrying whatever they had in boxes, bags or, in one case, an old suitcase tied up with rope.

Former Vice President Al Gore arranged the flight and was on board, but he declined to take credit for the airlift, fearing it would be "politicized."

13. I love him
He's going to be here today! :) Our hospitals all over the area (I'm in Chattanooga) are opening up for the people and our mayor is letting people pay whatever they can to have a home and they're leaving homes opened for them etc. (Side note: our mayor reminds me of Jimmy Carter but he's an indie)

18. Lucky!
He is a truly good person. I know, beyond all doubt, that our country would be on a very different and much better path, had he been allowed to assume his rightful place as president.
