Okay, I'm gonna whore for a friend's blog for a moment but I think he said some very powerful things about the tragedy of New Orleans. Especially his take on the attack of its Mayor which is spot on.
Check it out!
:woohoo:
http://yellowtailshiraz.blogspot.com/I’ve had a lot of thoughts about the hurricane. Who hasn’t?
I think it’s interesting the way Republicans are rallying around to blame the mayor of New Orleans for the scope of the disaster. Never mind that poor bastard was just a mayor. I mean you elect a mayor to lead parades and cut ribbons not to deal with major disasters. High-level federal officials should have been holding this guy’s hand the minute they realized how bad things were going to be.
But God forbid His favorite Son should have to answer for anything at all. Ever.
And all this nonsense about what they expected and didn’t expect is a lot of bullshit. The National Weather Service was saying it could have hit New Orleans dead center as a category 5. So they at least were expecting it to be much worse. Hell, I — in my comfy little home in Arkansas — was fully expecting that New Orleans was going to vanish off the face of the planet.
