Anyone have anymore information about FEMA head being
fired form Arabian Horse Association in Colorado. I heard he was fired for incompetence. Daily Kos had info but kind of hearsay- no real confirmed reports. I think the Congresswoman for Ohio mentioned something about it on Randi Rhodes. Anymore solid reports on this? Anyone.

1. Try horsesass.org, scroll down to "fucking disaster." There are
a lot of posts on this, apparently left in a shitstorm of lawsuits.

7. Albaugh brought Brown in as his deputy director for whole agency
and when Albaugh left to do his war profiteering, Bush elevated Brown to run all of FEMA.

FEMA Head Forced Out Of Last Job
by Joe Gandelman
When you read this Boston Herald piece you have to think: "Gee, it's so nice to know that this administration looked for the 'best and the brightest' in filling a vital, life-and-death post such as FEMA chief....and perhaps that has something to do with the quality of job performance so far":
The federal official in charge of the bungled New Orleans rescue was fired from his last private-sector job overseeing horse shows.

9. thanks for that link!!
I saw mention of that elsewhere, but was unable to get reliable confirmation until now. I've probably made an asshole of myself to some here by demanding rigorous verification, but there's good reason for it. It doesn't need to be agonized over too much, but "we" are held to FAR HIGHER journalistic standards than are the Bush-bots.

10. No problem
Anytime you need information don't hesitate to throw out a post asking for it.
I have done it numerous times. I think everyone here understands the need to source our information. We're not freepers. :patriot:

6. Maureen Dowd had it in her latest column
without any attribution. At the time I thought that typically her editors would have required two sources to confirm that, but of course she doesn't have to reveal them

Most interesting is that there has been no denial of this from Brown. Also, if you review his official biography at the FEMA website, you will notice they never mention his age or when he graduated from the two little known schools where he claims to have received a bachelor's degree and a law degree. The only law jobs referred to are working as a member of state Supreme Court staffs in Oklahoma and Colorado. These jobs do not constitute practicing law, and one could do them without having passed a bar exam. The description I saw about his job with the Arabian Horse group was not that of a lawyer. I seriously question whether the man ever passed a bar exam. One can work as a lawyer for a govt. agency without being admitted to any state bar - one just can't officially represent any party in a court proceeding. While his official bio claims he "practiced law in Oklahoma and Colorado", there is no identification of any law firm or type of law. I suspect he was stretching the truth to claim he was "practicing law" with the implication he was a LICENSED attorney. You are only licensed after you pass the bar. For example, I know a guy who could never pass the bar, but also had an engineering degree and ended up working as a patent attorney for Westinghouse. But he could never appear in court to defend a patent.

Brown went to "Oklahoma City College" and I couldn't find a web page for this school. I think this is where he buddied up with Bush's original FEMA director, Joe Albaugh. I tried googling Albaugh to get a bio on him and maybe get a sense of when they both went to this school, but couldn't find anything on Albaugh. Anyone got a link to a bio for this war profiteer?

ALSO, there are huge gaps in Brown's history, and the job at the Arabian Horse group was described as his last job before getting brought to DC by Albaugh and put into FEMA as a deputy director. Brown sounds like a major league loser who was lucky to have Albaugh for a buddy.

8. Oklahoma City University ( not College)
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 07:17 AM by OKNancy
has a wonderful law school. It is a small ( 3700 student body) private school. It has a very good reputation for it's law school.
Brown is a big ass and a numbskull, but don't downgrade the school he went to. Additionally I think he probably got the job because of his association with Frank Keating ( former Gov of Oklahoma - carpetbagger and creep)

just another note: OCU is offering free tution for Katrina victims. One semester there costs about 8500.00 for undergrads
