Soledad O'Brien just showed a store where none of the wine was
looted because "people couldn't open it." Here's some info for future disasters, if you hold a pillow against a tree (or another solid object) and keep hitting the bottom of the wine bottle against the pillow, the cork will come out far enough so that you can pull it out. I hope no one died of dehydration for the lack of an experienced drunk in the crowd.

2. You would think a store that sold wine would also sell corkscrews!!
Perhaps 'looting' was not as widespread as reported!!!!!

3. No, didn't open the cabinet the wine was in
Saw the report, the point was that people weren't 'looting', just surviving. The glass doors on the wine cabinet wouldn't have stopped someone if that was what they wanted.

8. My impression too -- Soledad and Miles were mostly pointing out that
what was taken was for survival.

4. Wine Would Have Been Dehydrating
Alcohol does that.

15. Yes, but the alcohol is a diuretic.
Why do you think you piss a lot when you drink? Why do you think people get headaches? It's dehydration.

Oh geez...I wonder how many Freeper-types are saying the victims were just suffering from what would be the equivalent of a hangover?

16. I found that out, I was wrong about everything except how to open
a wine bottle without a corkscrew.

10. Wine is the last thing you'd want to drink in the hot sun.
That could be a fatal mistake.

14. It's okay!
Bush is headed back down there in a day or two, to turn the water into wine. I think shrub has been playing his guitar with his amplifier turned up too loud and it's scrambled his brain. So loud he couldn't hear the call for help, until it was too late for a lot of people.

20. I think the point was being made that these weren't
wino hobo's (not a term I would ever use, but I feel like some media has implied) that were "looting". Many people have tried to make the looters seem like they were just druggies looting hospitals for a fix and searching for guns.

These people wanted water and baby formula.

I can't say that I wouldn't have needed a glass of wine with the hopelessness I would feel at that point (knowing that it would dehydrate me)
