Since it's Sunday - maybe we can sing this for the people of New Orleans
"Down To The River To Pray"

As i went down to the river to pray
Studyin about that good ol' way and who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way!

O sisters let's go down
Lets go down, Come on down
O sisters lets go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin about that good ol way
And who shall wear the robe & crown
Good Lord show me the way

O brothers lets go down
Let's go down, Come on down
O brothers lets go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin about that good ol way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good lord show me the way

O fathers lets go down
Let's go down, Come on down
O fathers lets go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray studying about that good ol way
And who shall wear th robe and crown
Good Lord show me the way

O mothers lets go down
Come on down, don't you wanna go down?
O Mothers lets go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studin about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way

O sinners lets go down
Lets go down, come on down
O sinners lets go down
Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin about that good ol way
And who shall wear the Robe and crown?
Good Lord show me the way

2. I hope this doesn't constitute a threadjack
But I have an additional suggestion.

Bridge Over Troubled Water

When you're weary, feeling small, when tears are in your eyes, I’ll dry them all.
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough and friends just can't be found,
like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down.

When you're down and out, when you're on the street,
when evening falls so hard, I’ll comfort you.
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes and pain is all around,
like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down.

Sail on silver girl, sail on by. Your time has come to shine, All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine, oh and when you need a friend, I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water, I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water, I will ease your mind.

8. I'll pass the mimosas
if you'll pass me that bottle of old vine zinfandel. I'll resist the urge to copy the lyrics of Sunday Morning Sidewalk in this space.

3. How about this one from Duke Ellington, sung by Mahalia Jackson
Come Sunday

Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty,
God of love, Please look down and see my people through.

I believe that God put sun and moon up in the sky.
I don't mind the gray skies
'cause they're just clouds passing by.

Heaven is a goodness time. A brighter light on high.

Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And have a brighter by and by.

Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty,
God of love, Please look down and see my people through.

I believe God is now, was then and always will be.
With God's blessing we can make it through eternity.

Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty,
God of love, Please look down and see my people through.

6. Lean on me
Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don't let show

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

9. Some Grateful Dead perhaps?
I will walk alone by the black muddy river

10. Good one
BTW: I know the mimosa reference might be a bit obscure.

In New Orleans is the first House of Blues. Every Sunday morning they run a Gospel Brunch. Along with the incredible music they serve an unlimited supply of mimosas. So here, let's have another mimosa in their honor.

12. Thanks...so many
flow through my mind this morning and have taken on a new meaning.....

Another,

He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows when
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother...

15. sunday morning gospel sing at du
i guess we all ain`t disciples the devil......
----- well,well,well ben harper------

the man who stole the water will swim for evermore
but he`ll never reach the land on that golden shore
that faint white light will haunt his heart
till he`s only a memory lost in the dark
------chorus-----
dig a hole in the ground straight down to hell
till there ain`t no more water in the well, well, well
when you`re down on your knees with nothing left to sell
try diggin a little deeper in the well, well, well
------chorus----
take care of your body like you take care for your soul
don`t dig yourself into a hole
untill you`ve paid the price you can`t know what it`s worth
the air and water, the fire and earth

dig a hole in the ground straight down to hell
till there ain`t no more water in the well, well ,well
when you are down on your knees with nothing left to sell
try diggin a little deeper in the well, well, well
------chorus-----
