What's wrong with "playing" the blame-game?
Was there not a study that revealed exactly what would and DID happen in NO?

Didn't the Bush admin. deliberately ignore and cut funding re: the levees?

Do we not pay money for disaster relief?

Wasn't the Bush admin. officials, a.k.a. FEMA negligible?

Are we not ALL going to now pay huge sums of money to restore this region?

Isn't it reasonable then to "blame" them?

1. It's all spin and PR...they love blaming everyone else when...
they can do it with impunity. But it's damn hard to do when the facts leave the corpse on your doorstep and the smoking gun in your hand.

Squirm and squeal, you filthy rats!

2. Nothing.
It is entirely appropriate to ask questions about such a monumental disaster. They just want us to shut up so they can spin it.

4. It would be criminal to not try to figure out what went wrong
It would be absolutely wrong to not figure out who and what caused this screw-up because we CAN NOT let this happen again and we can't keep it from happening again unless we know what happened this time.

5. it's only the blame game when a republican is in danger of being
held accountable for their actions...or inactions.

Otherwise it's known as accepting personal responsibility for your actions...or inactions.

6. Well now, let's be fair here...
When did the Right blame Clinton for anything? Shouldn't we be at least as mature as they are?

:sarcasm:

Seriously, what they are calling "blame" is properly known as "accountability". And it's about time we start seeing some.

12. The right blamed Clinton for ...

... they blamed Clinton for terrible things that NEVER HAPPENED!!!!

And any accomlishment of Clinton was just luck.

We "played nice" after Bush's incompetence in '01 and AWOL demeanor and attitude. Bush stabbed the Democrats in the back and used his own incompetence to gather even more power.

The Busheviks are already trying to blame the mayor of New Orleans for it's inability to manage a three state disaster of historic proportions. No fucking duhh!!!! They aren't supposed to. That would be like blaming the governor of Hawaii after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

Of course a municipality strapped for personell and barely staffed to handle NORMAL functioning is incapable of handling a category 5 hurricane and a biblical flood all at once. I saw Mayor Nagin on TV monday BEGGING to talk to the President. And right after him, I saw Haley Barbour who said he talked to the President THREE TIMES that day (Haley obviously didn't get the memo).

This has not been a colossal fuckup. This has been DELIBERATE!!! The Washington GOP has distanced themselves and made themselves "unavailable" so they could clame that the Democratic mayor and governer "never asked" for help. When in fact they have been BEGGING AND PLEADING. They call Washington, and most likely they get put on hold and made to talk to some Indian.

Bush was never asked for help. Condi was off shopping. Chertoff was reading newspapers headlines (and only headlines) that said they had "dodged a bullet".

After a brief dose of human emotion and feeling emerged at Faux News, it's apparent that the memos have been circulated along with freshly bottled Kool-Aid. They are now the inhuman spin-monster zombies again.

Democrats MUST DRAW THE LINE HERE. HERE AND NO FARTHER. THE 2006 ELECTION MUST BE ABOUT IMPEACHING THE PRESIDENT!!!!! The primary indictment ... TEN THOUSAND COUNTS OF RECKLESS HOMICIDE!!!!!

EVERY Democratic challenger must force his Republican opponent to defend Bush's handling of this and his many screwups. We must turn this into a recall election 100% AGAINST BUSH!!! Each Democrat must pledge to impeach the president with intention of removing him from office!!! The issue then becomes clear. It's referendum on the incompetent and criminal Bush administration!!!!!

7. With most of people evacuated and the killing neglect about over ...
it is now time.

I was adamant last week that we should leave this lay for a bit. Now, I think that the post-mortums should be merciless.

9. We CANNOT let them frame this argument.
Ignoring weakness does not strengthen this country. We are not playing a blame game, we are pointing out a weakness, so we can fix it.

10. And didn't, by his own admission
today on MTP, Chertoff learn about the levees breaking and the people in the Convention Center by READING THE NEWSPAPER? I would he would have been on the other end of a hotline somewhere??

11. One reason this is EXACTLY the time to "point fingers"
Every minute that goes by without taking the initiative on placing the blame squarely where it belongs is another minute of Republican spin. The "big lie" will overwhelm the truth. The longer they get to spin this the harder it will be to counter it.
