21. I want them all locked up. Key thrown away. This Sociopathic
Administration has Shown Over And Over Again, Their Reckless Disregard For Human Life At Best, and INTENTIONAL Disregard at worst. Our lives are being held for the most part in these imcompetent and possible criminal hands. Not too comforting.....

2. I have been wondering this for days. The government depends on the media
for its informatioon gathering. You see this all the time.

22. Yeah but I heard Chertoff on NPR Thursday afternoon...
The radio host (Not sure who) asked him about the people at the convention center. He said their NPR reporter estimated the number of people in the thousands. Chertoff responded with "That's just a rumor. I don't know about that." NPR host, voice rising, says,"That's not a rumor. That's what are reporter is seeing right now and he's experienced. That's what he's telling us." Chertoff then maintained that it was just a rumor and he knew nothing of it.

Has it been posted here?
Anybody got a link or transcripts of this bullshit?

I think it was around 2pm ET.

5. Look at the bright side. Unike the president, at least he reads.
Pretty pathetic that they weren't all in the situation room starting on Thursday of last week, planning how they were going to manage this once it hit. Instead Bush was playing Golf, Condi was shopping for Shoes and it looks like Chertoff was drinking coffee and having leisurly breakfasts. WTF is well put.

6. I think he's reading D.U. now. He changed policy on rescues this morning
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 09:54 AM by KeepItReal
Chertoff just had a quickie press conference to announce that people will no longer be allowed to refuse rescue attempts and stay home.

Check my post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4624050

"NBC News: Rescue crews are leaving behind (uninformed) victims

Some people are refusing to leave. Rescue copters leave them behind. The crews say when they go in to get people, sometimes they refuse to leave their homes in and around New Orleans, thinking that the water will go down and that the place is still habitable.

They are not communicating to victims what the situation is!

How are people with no electricity, TV or Radio supposed to know how dire the situation is and that there is no option but to leave New Orleans?

There should be helicopters with powerful speakers broadcasting evacuation instructions to the people. At least they should drop flyers of emergency communications that anybody can pick up.

Do the people in charge of this rescue have any common sense?"

7. THAT video needs to be replayed on every show. In every cartoon.
On AAR. On The Daily Show. Over and over and over. Director of Homeland Security. "I opened the paper and read..."

What else can he say really? But seriously.

He might have been behind a day. See, everything could have a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Lots of talk about "law and order" and not much talk about "food and water".
