4. He's hysterically crying now. Talking about how someone he knows
mother was stuck and they promised her every day someone was coming to get her on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and she died.

I'm crying here now, yet again.

15. Imagine telling your mother in a nursing home ...
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 10:13 AM by HamdenRice
For those who weren't watching he said something like this:

My emergency workers have been working all week. The head of emergency services in this very building, had to work all week while his moma was in a nursing home. She called and she said son, "is someone coming to get me?"

He said on Tuedsay, "yeah Moma, someone's coming to get you. And on Wednesday, he said someone's comin to get you Moma, and on Thursday, he told her someone's comin to get you Moma and on Friday, he said, someone's comin to get you Moma, and on Friday she drowned."

As he was telling this story he was breaking down, crying hysterically.

I have no words.

12. It takes a lot to get me to cry, that one did it for me...
This was a crime. The story about the dogs chasing the bus after not being allowed on the buses was pretty sad too.

10. No, America (the people) ARE trying to help. It is the
government which is turning help away. How can we stand up to FEMA and the military?

13. One of the most moving moments of this week
was seeing the Jefferson Parish president, a grizzled middle-aged tough guy who'd just finished leading an effort to repair a section of the levee, weeping as he described a colleague telling his mother to hold on, day after day, since help was coming. And then after FIVE DAYS, she drowns in the nursing home. Just heartbreaking. The bastards who allowed this to happen MUST be brought to task.

17. Don't miss what he said about FEMA cutting his emergency communication
lines either. He said they cut the communication lines and that he repaired them then had armed guards standing watch over them. Why would they cut his line of communication? Just how evil and inhumane do you have to be to do something like that?

I feel for him, for the head of their emergency management office and for his family. God help us all if this is what the federal government considers adequate.

19. Here's a partial transcript- FEMA denied them water, fuel and CUT com line
Broussard

Jefferson Parish President. On Timmeh:

Sir, they were told like me. Every single day. The cavalry is coming. On the federal level. The cavalary is coming. The cavalry is coming. The cavalry is omcing. I have just begun to hear the hooves of the calvary. The calvary is still not here yet, but I have begun to hear the hooves and were almost a week out.

Three quick examples. We had Wal-mart deliver three trucks of water. Trailer trucks of water. Fema turned them back, said we didn't need them. This was a week go. We had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a coast guard vessel docked in my parish. The coast guard said come get the fuel right way. When we got there with our trucks, they got a word, FEMA says don't give you the fuel. Yesterday, yesterday, fema comes in and cuts all our emergency communications lines. They cut them without notice. Our sheriff, Harry Lee, goes back in. he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards said no one is getting near these lines.

...

The guy who runs this building I'm in. Emergency management. He's responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home and every day she called him and said. Are you coming. Son? Is somebody coming? And he said yeah. Mama. Somebody's coming to get you.. Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Thursday. Somebody's coming to get you on Friday. And she drowned Friday night. And she drowned Friday night. Nobody's coming to get us. Nobody's coming to get us. The Sectary has promimsed. Evrybody's promised. They've had press conferences. I'm sick of the press conferences. For god's sakes, just shut up and send us somebody.
