2. Excellent point. Emotion screws up the ability to perform cost/benefit

analysis where you calculate how many people can be left to rot before one's poll numbers are negatively impacted. If we were all emotional, we wouldn't be able to bear the callousness towards human suffering that our current form of economic totalitarianism requires.
