Here is what I find vile and disgusting
Canada has asked it's citizens to cut back their use of fuel to help us?
That is such a noble gesture...but makes me wonder why anyone would help someone who doesn't help themselves?

2. Geez, isn't that the RW talking point ...
about the victims of Katrina that were unable to evacuate?

Sarcasm not directed at the OP, it's for the asses that blame the victims in N.O. ...

I do see your point, our jack ass "leadership" instructs us "not to buy gas unless we need it" (whatever that is supposed to mean) and other people take steps to do meaningful things ...

3. I'm not talking about the evacuees
I'm talking about the country as a collective whole.
Why should the other countries do without so that we can continue to be glutons?

4. i knew I hadn't expressed myself clearly ...
I understood that you were pointing out the irony related to the #'s of "Americans" that squander fuel and assume an air of entitlement ... asking why would the Canadians do for us what we would not do for ourselves ...

My point (never clearly arrived at) is that the RW-nuts, that are so quick to judge others, would themselves never be able to with stand scrutiny ...

I doubt I've cleared my point up (?) ... but my response was in no way critical of your OP.

6.  I understand
They are quick to tell the people in New Orleans they should have been self-sufficient, yet don't understand that they aren't being self-sufficient?
Something about glass houses comes to mind.....

5. Maybe this will be a wake up call to the USA that we need to get our.....
priorities straight. Most of us are the culprits, in one way or another.
