." And she drowned Friday night. She drowned Friday night.
One of the most stunning things that I have ever read!

MR. BROUSSARD: ...that have worked 24/7. They're burned out, the doctors, the nurses. And I want to give you one last story and I'll shut up and let you tell me whatever you want to tell me. The guy who runs this building I'm in, emergency management, he's responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home and every day she called him and said, "Are you coming, son? Is somebody coming?" And he said, "Yeah, Mama, somebody's coming to get you. Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Thursday. Somebody's coming to get you on Friday." And she drowned Friday night. She drowned Friday night.

7. That really got to me too.
I was sobbing when I saw that. Scared hell out of my 8 year old.

I keep hanging on to the fact that I have not talked to a single person lately that is ok with the way we have handled the aftermath of Katrina. I put up a post about this yesterday, but I'm bringing it up again because we have got to hang on to the reality that the American public DOES care.

People are angry. Americans are suffering and that is WRONG. Average people are pissed in a very direct way, and they WILL act. This kind of story just makes everyone MORE pissed and more determined. First we cry and pick up the pieces THEN the shit hits the fan...

9. Un - - fucking - - believable....
<snip>
MR. RUSSERT: This is hurricane season. Are you prepared for another hurricane in that region or, God forbid, a nuclear or biological attack, which we're told could happen at any time?

SEC'Y CHERTOFF: I'm going to tell you, Tim, you've put your finger on something which I said the day after this hurricane hit. As catastrophic as this is, we are still in hurricane season.

And as much as we are working on desperately getting people out now, we've got to make sure we are holding in reserve and we are preparing for what could come next, whether it be a hurricane, whether it be a disease.

I mean, we are challenged to make sure that at a moment when we have a current catastrophe and we have to be vigilant about other catastrophes that we do not lose focus and spend time dwelling on the past.

I promise you we will go back and review the lessons that we have to learn, what went right and what went wrong.

But I will tell you now we will be making a huge mistake if we spend the time in the immediate future looking back instead of dealing with, as you point out, what's going on now and what may yet come.

<end of snip>

A total denial of reality and a complete doge and parsing of terms of Russert's question. This PNAC prick Chertoff needs to be removed from office and put on trial for crimes against U.S. citizens.

10. Here's a paragraph from another thread - about being vulnerable.
"If people need water and food, we're going to do everything we can to get them water and food," Bush added. "It's very important for the citizens in all affected areas to take personal responsibility and assume a kind of a civic sense of responsibility so that the situation doesn't get out of hand, so people don't exploit the vulnerable."

The last six words - SO PEOPLE DON'T EXPLOIT THE VULNERABLE.

Well, George (of the ermine trimmed robe who hold a cheerleading megaphone under the robe) we know who is vulnerable and we know who is exploiting the vulnerable whether wearing the robe or not and with or without your megaphone and pom poms.

Who is exploiting whom?

WELL GEORGE (of the ermine trimmed robe who holds a cheerleading megaphone and pom poms under the robe) we know who is vulnerable and we know who is exploiting the vulnerable whether wearing the robe or not and with or without your megaphone and pom poms.

The anger is sustained and refreshed each day that this regime is in power. They never place limits on their selfishly un-American inhumanity.

Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 12:14 PM by MidnightWind
hearings. It's murder. He's a murderer. How many more people does this man and his horrid administration have to kill before the people of this country wake up and impeach his sorry ass? Oh no, we can impeach someone for a blow-job, but for murder? No. And that my friends, is the biggest shame of this country--not holding incompetent and murderous leaders responsible for their crimes against humanity.

13. bush should fry for this incident alone
I can't speak. I just heard Broussard on MSNBC and I am crying.

Please keep posting this and the video link - over and over and over. This ONE death is enough, IMO, to begin impeachment proceedings.

16. There will never be any accountability....
....for all these unnecessary deaths, many of which are simply murder.

In fact, the response will be to pour more money into gov't agencies and give them greater powers.
