1. Yes, but 10% lived in abject poverty and in the worst conditions |
|
...and sections of New Orleans. How many of those people have or will survive?

3. I am curious as to where you got your statistics. |
|
The info I have says that the 2000 census had New Orleans at about 500,000 in the city itself, and 1.3 million in the greater metro area. < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans> < http://neworleans.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm> < http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/22/22071.html>

9. A difference of 1.5 million people |
|
is not splitting hairs. Even if the original poster was talking about the greater metropolitan area there is still a difference of 700,000 people.

12. I definitely have a grip. |

But hysterical posts with inaccurate info aren't going to help anything.
Your header said "2 million in New Orleans alone." Your user name is jus_the_facts. Your post ended with "can you handle the truth." I was asking for clarifications.

When people talk about the "Greater Metropolitan Area," that includes the city itself. So 1.3 million people live in New Orleans and its suburbs.
edited for spelling.
