Gore ran into problem with FEMA in NO!
This just on PBS "Washington Week" in Ga. "Gore used his own funds to get 3 commercial airplanes and go to NO to get people out of hospitals there and transport them to Tn, and one other state hospital, but ran into a problem with getting the OK from FEMA!"

I guess FEMA has regulations that forbid any aid going to any for profit hospitals during an emergency.

I'll try to find the information on the web somewhere.

1. You know what? SCREW EM!
Fly the damn planes in anyway. They're not helping anybody. They refuse to help! Do it yourself Mr. President.

2. Gore uses his own funds while the prick tells US where to donate.
He is a REAL man. Shrub is ...hell I don't even know what to call the murderer. Oh, I guess that will work.

Peace.

4. How many non-profit hospitals are left?
After Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Shrub, and all the privatization in the healthcare industry, what's happened to all the non-profit hospitals? They're all owned by people like Bill Frist.

5. FEMA needs to give power back to Civilian Control
All they are doing is hindering things and making things worse.

Since when do Americans need permission to help other Americans?

6. Another bit of proof that it is FEMA that is the authority, not the mayor
or Governor. This helps shoot down the right wing smear that it is the Mayor or Governor that aren't letting help in.

7. Gore was in NOLA yesterday, the WashWeek story is outdated
He did eventually get clearance from FEMA, but it took several days. The plane couldn't fly back last night because there are no landing lights at the NOLA airport yet, so it spent the night at Dallas and is supposed to be back in NOLA today.

Haven from fury Mercy Flight Brings Evacuees to ET

Gore accompanies about 140 arrivals from New Orleans but declines to take credit

By ROBERT WILSON

(snip)

About 140 people - mostly elderly and infirm - arrived Saturday at McGhee Tyson Airport on a chartered mercy flight from hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, welcomed to East Tennessee by a bright sun and a host of medical professionals straining at the reins to help their fellow human beings without regard to whether they were on the clock.

The displaced hurricane victims came to Tennessee on a hastily arranged flight, accompanied by doctors and carrying whatever they had in boxes, bags or, in one case, an old suitcase tied up with rope.

Former Vice President Al Gore arranged the flight and was on board, but he declined to take credit for the airlift, fearing it would be "politicized."

12. I realize he did finally get the job done! I'm talking about the idiots
with FEMA trying to prevent him from doing it because of some stupid bureaucracy rules they think they have!

Gore was in the Senate long enough to know how to get around this, and I hope some day we'll find out just who he had to call!

I understand the need for rules, but I still can't accept the total lack of commonsense!!!!!

10. This is what I was wondering about.
Was how VIP's like Gore and Frist could get in when qualified professionals could not.

Seems like it was harder than we knew.

14. NEED......MORE.....INFO!
That is just about the "bold move" I've been whining about. The real "bold move" would have been to get with some retired military and sympathetic spooks and fly the mother fuckers anyway, even if it took a few FEMA liv- er, even if it was difficult and they encountered Imperial Entanglements. If this is true, we need more info.
