Debunk the Spin: Reporters were running all around the city from day 1
To those who say "They couldn't get in - there was too much water or that it was too dangerous my answer is:

"If Geraldo Rivera and Anderson Cooper were in the city day after day running around interviewing people WHY couldn't the national guard, and FEMA get in?"

Geraldo was in the freaking Convention Center interviewing people - supposedly the most dangerous spot in the city. If Geraldo Rivera can manage go in there - why is it too dangerous for the National Guard or the police?

They turned away a truckload of 20 cops from Virginia with food and water - telling them it was too dangerous to go in.

I have to say - much as you hate Geraldo - he is one of the gutsiest people around.

1. CBS Evening News
John Roberts was standing on the overpass on Tuesday night. If he could get there, so could FEMA.

4. There was a whole army of reporters in there.....
But the military itself was scared to go in there with weapons.

2. Maybe Geraldo will go down the parishes to the south
where 1000 people are stranded and rescue them. FEMA and Bush aren't interested in helping them-Bush wouldn't even talk to their Congressman, for heaven's sake!

9. Maybe we should send Harry and Geraldo to Iraq and to find Osama...
Add Anderson Cooper and they could singlehandedly straighten out the mess. They are more capable than the entire military, I guess.

6. Exactly.
The Today Show crew (Lester Holt, Nora O'Donnell), Brian Williams and Harry Smith from the Early Show, many others, were all there instantly, with all of their gear, reporting live, so how come FEMA wasn't ready?

11. My husband heard a news report on BBC radio
a few days ago as he was driving to work that said something to the effect that their reporters were mystified about why aid wasn't arriving, because they (Beeb reporters) had no problem driving right in to the city.
