RW mother talks about horrible people refusing to leave NO |
|
She said people with children don't want to leave their homes which are still above water.
I said well, they may have found out how bad things got and figured they were better off where they were. I also said they may have enough supplies to get them by for a while and saw no reason to leave.
:eyes: I luv my mom...but I wish she'd quit watching fox.

1. You have to wonder.... |
|
...why the people in wheelchairs didn't just gas up their Subarus and head up north to find a nice Holiday Inn to chill in for a week or two.

3. I had to actually point out how poor most were |

They had no money and no cars. It never occured to her. :eyes:
This is my mother! I hate to say it, but I wonder if there was a screw-up at the hospital when she had me.

hey mine's the same way. we avoid as best we can talking about politics. every once in a while, though, things will flare up.
i don't think mine would support what happened, any more she just tries to avoid the news altogether. that way, she doesn't have to really think about it.

At this point, I do not support people who think it is their "right" to stay in their homes in the New Orleans area. (Especially the ones who are asking rescuers to bring them food and water.) There are no city services like electricity or running water, let alone drinkable water. You can't just drive around the corner to the grocery store.
Sorry, the ONLY thing I agree with Chertoff, truly an evil human being, is that evacuations will be enforced.

4. I can understand some of the refusals in light of what's happened so far |
|
They may have heard about the hell at the superdome and convention center. I don't know...we can't know what's in their minds right now, but I have a hard time blaming them for their refusal.

6. So many people stayed behind because they were sick, old and poor. |
|
I'm sick to death of blaming the victims. Where were the FEMA buses last Sunday? Mandatory evacuations are under the aegis of Homeland Security. What the hell did they do LAST Sunday?

8. Have her get in touch with the reality on the ground.... |
|
She'll sing a very different tune. I feel it rising up inside of me and every american......the absolute putrid response by fascists to human suffering, overt racism by class, and leaving death everywhere.
And now I feel it forcing me into action against them......until every last one of them is gone.
