"There's a lot of coward men out there" |
|
"The men wanted to get in the choppers before the women"
So says some uniformed rescuer in NO on CNN.
FIRST, what an incredibly sexist comment. I am a woman and I can assure you I would let a man go in front of me if he was needier, older or sicker; or if I felt like it.
SECOND, yes, sir, there are coward men out there. The worst one is occupying the White House.

Ya gotta love it, huh? You take thousands of desperate people who've been abandoned and left in dire straits, then criticize them when the long-awaited, far too long-delayed "rescue" happens, and the criticism comes from one of the "rescuers."
For the zillionth time this past week, I feel sick!

This man and 4 other police protected a large group of people at a school for 5 days before being evacuated. They were the very last to go. There were men who tried to shove women out of the way to get to helicopters (or buses, I can't remember). The police had established that women, children, and the sick would go first, able bodied men last.
edited to add that this story ran on TV last night. I hope they aren't chopping it up into bits. It would surely lose some of the context.
