Mary Landrieu to Bush: "I'll Punch Him" (video)
Sen. Landrieu was on This Week and brought George on a helicopter tour of her the damage...

Landrieu: "If one person criticises them or says one more thing including the President of the US, he will be hearing from me. One more word about it after this show airs and I might likely punch him, literally"

She burst into tears as she looked at a single crane working to help repair the levees...

Landrieu..."The President could have funded it, he cut it out of the budget. Is that the most pitiful sight you have ever seen in your life?-One little crane."

"I want to thank the President for his wonderful response" You call that saving lives? Maybe if she had actually had the guts to say what she is saying today then she may have saved lives. Fuck her, she played politics with peoples lives, and she lost.

She was in obvious distress today...it was no act.

Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 02:44 PM by belle
She trusted Bush, god knows why, but she did, and now she sees what he really is. There are going to be a lot of people like that. If you think of all of them as the enemy, there's not really going to be a lot to work with. That goes double for people who are already in a position of influence.

She sounded like she was sincerely trying to get someone to pay attention.

I have cursed her for many of her votes in the senate that I thought were inexcusable. I will probably curse her again for future votes, but today, I am glad she is speaking out from her heart.

Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 03:52 PM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
the advice given by the pastor of friend of mine: "if you ever find a church with a congregation who aren't hypocrites, whatever you do, don't join it, or you will surely spoil it". Unfortunately, whatever adults may think like that, the innocent naivety about the imperfection of the adult world is almost a definitive feature of idealistic but disaffected youth.

I called Ms Landrieu a bitch after I heard her interview with the CNN lad, Anderson (forget his surname), but I've read that she's been very actively professional in her job for some time, trying to get the "loony toons" to protect the wetlands, instead of allowing them to be sold off to developers. Vainly, of course, since neo-Quimby thinks that complying with requests from anyone else is a sign of weakness!

12. Bush's photo op of NO
ZDF News, a German TV organization, reported that the
president's visit was a completely staged event. As soon as
the president and news people left, the "open air food
distribution" point was torn down. "The people in
the area were once again left to fend for themselves,"
said ZDF. - Heartbreaking and a disgrace.

19. I honestly believe these people 'played the game' they way ...
they thought they were supposed to - kiss the Chimpybutt, we promise you'll get your supplies...

But after days of nothing, they rebelled. Mayor Nagin went nuts during the interview that's been heard round the world. Mary did the same here... I think Gov. Blanco's moment was when she decided to go get Watt to help...

Look, these people are pols and it means even though you HATE someone you address them as the "esteemed colleague from so an so".

I'm very afraid for Sen. Landrieu... knowing the rw, they'll say she 'threatened the President' and throw her in jail!

27. my, how things change....from the gawker:
Was it possible for us to love Anderson Cooper more than we already did? Yes, it turns it out, it was possible. Our love grew at about 7:30 last night, in the middle of 360°, when Coop, who’s been in New Orleans for days, finally, well, flipped out. Mad as hell, you say? Madder. He was talking to Sen. Mary Landrieu, Democrat of Louisiana, and we can bet she’s not going on his show again soon. Round one:

COOPER: Does the federal government bear responsibility for what is happening now? Should they apologize for what is happening now?

LANDRIEU: Anderson, there will be plenty of time to discuss all of those issues, about why, and how, and what, and if. … Let me just say a few things. Thank President Clinton and former President Bush for their strong statements of support and comfort today. … I want to thank Senator Frist and Senator Reid for their extraordinary efforts.

Anderson, tonight, I don’t know if you’ve heard — maybe you all have announced it — but Congress is going to an unprecedented session to pass a $10 billion supplemental bill tonight to keep FEMA and the Red Cross up and operating.

COOPER: … I haven’t heard that, because, for the last four days, I’ve been seeing dead bodies in the streets here in Mississippi. And to listen to politicians thanking each other and complimenting each other, you know, I got to tell you, there are a lot of people here who are very upset, and very angry, and very frustrated

And when they hear politicians slap — you know, thanking one another, it just, you know, it kind of cuts them the wrong way right now. Because literally there was a body on the streets of this town yesterday being eaten by rats, because this woman had been laying in the street for 48 hours. And there’s not enough facilities to take her up.

Do you get the anger that is out here?

29. Watched the entire interview. I think Senator Landrieu deserves ...
... our respect and full support.

I urge the trash-talk to stop.

Support her; she just said she'd punch the president of the united states and she is fighting for her people, the people of America and the world.

For those who follow the life of Christ you'll know the details better than I may remember them, but I do think I remember something about him turning to one of the dudes occupying a cross next to his and granting forgiveness. Senator Landrieu has more than earned some support with what she said and has been doing - the whole world will see that interview and I can just imagine what she is going to have to say when she takes the floor in the Senate on Tuesday or Wed.

Please, everyone, focus on the enemy, the brutal murdering enemy -- Bush and his neoconster gang -- and support anyone willing to call them out for what they are. Please.

Peace.

I read a thread on this board earlier today, where a woman's rightwing neighbor threatened to call the SS on her because she said she wanted to slap the chimp.

If that woman who posted that thread is reading this, you oughta send this transcript to that putz--he can report the Senator too, while he is at it!!!
