My job here in Austin is a facilities manager at and architecture firm. My job is to make sure everything in the building works, take care of any problems that arise and just make sure that everything hums along. If something goes wrong, it's my job to snap to it and take care of it before it becomes a "big" problem. Generally what this entails is having a plan ready for all sorts of situations, emergencies and working closely with security here.
I take pride in the job and the concept that people can rely on me in a pinch or if there is some sort of emergency. It all comes down to something very simple: Personal Responsibility for my actions.
This is something our moron* in chief grossly lacks. It's never "the buck stops here!", it's always, "it's someone else's fault". He can blame other people all they want, but the bottom line is; he is the one in charge, he is the one that sets policy, he is the one that is suppose to propose programs and support them, he is the one that is suppose to take action in the time of a national emergency.
I think many of the various moron* supporters are missing the big picture here, this is a national emergency, not a localized state issues. And in the event of a National Emergency, and have been given ample warning (as he* had received and didn't act on) it's the presidents* responsibility to take action. He didn't do any such thing and as a result we have a disaster of epic proportions with no leadership.
This is a colossal failure. From the top down. The Gov of LA and the Mayor of NO had been asking for help as early as the 28th, had been calling the WH repeatedly only to be ignored and yet the rightwing spin masters try and blame them.
There is a long documented history of moron* cutting funds, slashing budgets and reallocating NG to Iraq from LA that point to HIS failure to lead, his failure to protect the US against a disaster of this magnitude, his failure to take personal responsibility for his actions.
Now, I'm just one worker bee among many in this huge nation, but frankly, given the level of help that has been given to those poor people in NO, I could have done a better job.
