All of these "Violent, lawless, animalistic ******" stories I keep hearing
REPOST - had to repost because my other thread was pulled because of my use of the horrible "N" word. I'm truly sorry if anyone was offended by my intent in using that word - I thought everyone would understand where I was coming from in using it.

I AM offended, alright. Offended by the media implying that these people ARE EXACTLY THAT.

I apologize to all of you that posted very thoughtful and intelligent responses in that thread - they've been deleted now because of my choice to use a shocking and unsavory word to describe a shocking and unsavory mindset that's all too fucking prevalent in 2005 America.

All of these "Violent, lawless, animalistic n*****" stories I keep hearing repeated ALL OVER the media ....

And no, they haven't used the vile "N" word - but they may as WELL, because they aren't hiding their intent and meaning very well.

The thing that struck me during all of this after having been GLUED to the television and DU for days now (I haven't watched anything BUT this coverage on tv for days) is how COOPERATIVE the people stuck and abandoned have been

COOPERATIVE.

CALM.

CONTROLLED. (self-controlled)

But most of all - COOPERATIVE.

And I realized - taking for example all of the various "looting" footage - there was no violence or fighting over supplies. When people were leaving the stores, their arms loaded with food and clothes and something to drink, they were doing so in a cooperative manner, with one another. No fights or violence broke out in front of the cameras, with people fighting over a last bottle of water, or the last loaf of bread. And these violent negro "looters" even took supplies to those too infirm to secure some for themselves - when our government would not.

And I remember video and reports over the years of white suburbia coming to blows in malls across America over the latest Cabbage Patch doll or Tickle Me Elmo. And violence occurring during a child's hockey game because a white father didn't like a call made during play.

And I ask - Who are the savages? Really?

And do any of us think that if the white suburban yuppies had been abandoned in the 10's of thousands they would have reacted any better than THESE people? Crammed together in horrific conditions, and left to die?

I submit to you that if the above scenario had happened, it would be a bloodbath. People would be in "every man for himself" mode to the extreme - deaths would have occurred when fighting for supplies that had been "liberated and found" (since white people aren't LOOTERS, for god's sake!). More deaths would have happened when crammed into filthy conditions by the thousands. And riots would have broken out then, AND when the "calvary" finally did arrive and everyone stormed the busses trying to be the first ones taken to safety.

But no. The minority population of New Orleans reacted with heroic measures of character, control, peace, patience and cooperation.

They are the TRUE heroes.

I am filled with love and the ultimate respect for these people.

I weep for them, their loss, their abandonment, and the way they are being portrayed.

And I weep for what our country has become.
