Habitat for Humanity (donate to no-one else)
America must return to the community of barn raisers once again. Our gov't has failed us, we must help ourselves. Habitat volunteers can rebuild NO without the hellish Bush admin incompetents. It's up to us to rebuild. As volunteers, we will save the insane bucks they would otherwise pay to Halliburton to prop up their "shareholder value" Jesus help us!!! God forbid that company profit anymore from our grief!!!! Habitat only. Insist our gov't contract the rebuilding theough Habitat.

1. That is who my money..
is going to, because they are the only group that will insure the poor of New Orelans will be going back home. If any of us believe the feds will fund rebuilding for the poor, they must be smokin' something.

Hopefully, when the Habitat is ready to start building, I will be able t volunteer to help -- I may not have much $$$, but I know how to build a house!

2. We can do this. We can help.
After seeing Second Harvest on the FEMA site I don't trust them either. I trust Jimmy though, everone trusts him.

9. sticking up for Second Harvest here
I've loved them for years. They can't help it if FEMA likes them too--they're still excellent, and you get a LOT of bang for your buck with them.

3. Great idea!
Wish I had thought of it! Can't think of a better group! It's what many of the hurricane victims needed BEFORE the hurricane. Maybe this way something good can come from this disaster.

7. I tried to volunteer one time for HFH and was turned away
because I was not a Christian. I was told that it was a faith based organization and they had all the help they needed.
I don't hold anything against them and feel they are doing great works in their efforts to house people but would not send money their way myself.

8. I volunteered and they didn't ask.
In my case it was a one-time gig through my work. They probably mentioned they are a Christian org, but that didn't bother me and they didn't ask me if I was Christian myself.

12. I dismissed it as a local control thing as I am in respect of
Jimmy Carters work in this field.
Still I would rather send my money to an All American organization.

14. my folks do a lot of volunteering for Habitat
and they've never been turned away, which leads me to believe that it doesn't matter whether or not someone's a Christian.

They go to other countries to do their work; I don't know whether or not that would make a difference. I doubt it--I can't imagine Jimmy Carter would associate himself with an organization that discriminated against anybody in any way.

15. noahswish.org for animal rescue!
All of the victims that evacuated to shelters in LA & MS could not bring their pets with them. Thus these animals were left behind to fend for themselves. There is a shelter in Sliddell, LA that is looking for and taking in all of the misplaced animals in hopes of reuniting with their owners.

If you would like to donate please go to www.noahswish.com.
