I am sick and tired of this administration...
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 04:51 PM by EC
There are lots of reasons to hold this administration to blame for this disaster, the cuts to the Army of Engineers, cuts to LA's homeland security funds (which as Hillery Clinton herself pointed out was all political, i.e. the Republican states got more, and the Democratic states less, irregardless of need and vulnerability) but there is also one area I haven't heard mentioned, which could have help alleviate the masses of left behinds. The Minimum Wage, if we had instituted a living wage as the minimum I firmly believe people would not have had to hit the streets begging for rides or begging for a few bucks for gas and would have had cars capable of leaving the city.

We can see clearly the masses of poor and disabled that were left, do these numbers jive with what is reported as our nations poor? Why were the private hospitals evacuated, but not the State hospitals?

I for one am tired of the hiding of our poor as if they didn't exist. I for one am really tired of hearing the same old line of "our poor are better off than the poor anywhere else in the World, why, they even have big screen TV's. I for one am tired of hearing the excuses of why we can't have a living wage...Oh, it'll break the businesses budget? No, it may break the businesses profit margin, but they'll still be there. Oh, well, it'll cause massive lay-offs? Well, what is causing the massive lay-offs now?

It's time the Democrats took back control and clean up this mess of the RW that don't seem to know, or care about the consequences of their actions....Otherwise, we are totally screwed.

By the way, has anyone else noticed that ** has lost his fake Texas accent?

1. I agree with everything you have said!
The richest Country in the World has no excuse for anyone being so economically deprived that they can't even get out of the way of a natural disaster! They shouldn't have to get the medical attention they so desperately need because they were victims of a catastrophic event! It is shameful! They shouldn't be thrown out on the streets like so much garbage. This system is broke and we need to fix it!

3. You are right
we hold ourselves up as examples of how life could be, while hiding the sameness of a third world country...seems like something Russia does...

2. I honestly don't think I can take almost 4 more years of them in charge.
Our country can't take it.

I thought I despised them before this happened, now that seems minor by comparison.

What are the survivors going to do when they find out all the intentional sabotage that went on in the relief efforts? I just can't imagine the fury and pain.

5. I'm guessing there is going to be a lot of discontent
not only with the poor, or these survivors, but once we try to keep our homes warm this winter, I think there is going to be lots of trouble....

6. All that's missing is the water turning red from the blood
since these people were killed by a different method.
