Anyone just see Christiane Ammanpour and Anderson Cooper on CNN? |
|
Talking to each other about how, in the overall picture, things are starting to happen, but on the ground, it does not seem that way. Blasting the lack of communication for people to call out and get word to their families that they are alive. Christiane said, "Can you believe this is America?" and talking about how the rest of the world is looking at all this with disbelief. Good on both of them.

1. I can't believe this is America . |
|
I always believe that we were invincible that something like this would never ever happen in America ; that American citizens would never be left to suffer like this . Oh how I was wrong ...

4. Whoa - after seeing Nagin's disclosure on what he, bush and blanco |
|
discussed, and now Witt's employment by Blanco who "wants the best" on the scene, this is a huge huge slap at bush and his fuck up appointees

12. What did Nagin say or do you have a link to a thread about what he said? |
|
Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco looked like they did not want to be anywhere near President Nero at the phot op at the NOLA airport. I just listened to Nagin's radio inerview again and it brought me to tears.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

10. I believe Anderson Cooper really wants to get some real |
|
answers to his questions. He seems to be getting more and more frustrated with all the political double-speak. He's being a complete bulldog with everyone he talks to. Wish all the rest of them would be that insistent. Maybe if they could all do their jobs that thoroughly, we'd finally get some true information.

15. I agree. He keeps talking about how people, survivors, |
|
keep walking up to him and asking him to ask the officials these things. I think it's pretty apparent that he cares deeply about his interview subjects and he's just apalled by what he's seen down there. Remember this is a guy who has gone all over the world and covered many disasters and wars. He's seen a lot. And for him to say that this is the worst thing he's ever seen, that should tell us all something. He's done a great job there this past week.

And it's only the start of what's to come.
More Cat 5 hurricane's thanks to global warming.
More protests, that will get violent.
Earthquakes anyone?
The xtian right's self-fulfilled prophesies, not to mention the native american's unself-fulfilled prophesies (Mama Earth's revenge) are coming.
Such a shame everyone can't get together and divert it all.
It could be diverted.
It's the greed, stupids...

21. I saw them. More and more reporters are reacting like this, |
|
especially those on the ground, like these two, who see the people and the unbelievable suffering, up close and personal. But there was also Tim Russert, this morning, when he went off on Chertoff. Wow. And Jack Cafferty last week on Wolf Blitzer's show. And Sheppard Smith on FOX. Even the traditional apologists for the right and critics of the left are getting into the act, and far past time, if they have any journalistic integrity at all. Totally amazing, nonetheless. :wow:
