Re: NOLA, breathless Rita Crosby sez, "I basically almost cried."
I am happy that MSNBC is not afraid to put on the air women who are not bone skinny, and I can even tolerate Rita's frog fart voice. But she makes some of the most shamefully cavalier remarks on live TV. Since MSNBC hired her, at least three times, her response to her interviewees' heartwrenching stories has been a curt, "You bet," before she rushed on to her next question or went to a commercial.

You bet? AAARRRRRGGGGGHHH!

1. I agree that the fact that she didn't look cookie cutter TV model was
refreshing, but her lack of brains (and heart) should be insulting to MSNBC.

5. Looks that are not conventionally "attractive"
are not a guarantee of good journalism. Far from it, if you're familiar with Candy Crowley. And Cosby is a right-wing hack with many years of shilling on FAUX under her belt. I don't care what she looks like, but she's bought and paid for.

She is excruciatingly . . . . . I don't quite know what. She comes across as being a sultry breathless emptyheaded scatterbrain.

I was fascinated with her weird Shirley Temple mannerism of swaying waaay back until her chin disappeared into her neck, then rocking forward, then swaying back...

12. I actually preferred Tucker to her
Switch her off immediately - her inane intrusive questions yield no stories - she is a tabloid queen as far as I am concerned.

Saying that, she will probably do well - and if the extra income she brings to MSGOP helps keep Olbermann - so be it.

19. MSNBC made the decision to put her on this weekend instead of Olbermann
Let them know you are not happy with this pathetic excuse of a "news" anchor.

21. Please do. Let them know that this tabloid piece of trash
is out of her depth when it comes to reporting this story. She was in Aruba until Thursday by the way and was still offering up reports on the Holloway case (as if one missing person could possibly be as important as what was going on in the Gulf States?). She's an outrage to journalism in general and to MSNBC in particular.

23. Her nickname in some circles is "Rita Skeeter"
after the obnoxious gossip reporter in the Harry Potter books. It's very appropriate because she seems utterly incapable of reporting anything that doesn't have a whiff of sensationalism and exploitation about it.

I wish I could convince myself that MSNBC was just trying to give Olbermann a nice long weekend if he wanted one, but I just can't figure out why nowadays when a breaking story happens, they go to the "live anchor well" and all they ever seem to drag up in the bucket is Tucker Carlson, Joe Scarborough and this chick. And half the time when Tucker's on, he's asking Rita for an update on something so we are forced to hear her anyway.

Keith was SO GOOD on the coverage of the pope's death. He had interesting guests on and asked them interesting questions and LET THEM ANSWER. His work on covering Katrina on Countdown has been exemplary, and what's his reward? To get his hour preempted on Friday night by the relief concert, and the rest of the weekend off as well while the lunatics take over the asylum. If MSNBC had any brains, they'd use him a whole lot more. Not this woman who just wants to exploit the misery of the victims and hasn't a clue. Who didn't even leave Aruba until someone convinced her "hey, this is a big story." Duh, what gave you your first clue?

24. She reminds me of the classic caricature of the insincere real estate
agent who acts like a dear friend of the client and the screws them before moving on to the next client.

You know ... two two-line cell phones, speaking on both while ordering her double cheeseburger with fries and mayo and an iced tea with sweet'n'low.

A monumental picture of self-importance.
