Something we can do--Boycott media for their coverage!!! |
|
Who's with me?
It will taken until we are no longer on alert (here at DU) and can manuveur easier, but I say once things return to a manageable level we shut these bastards down--much as we threatened for Sinclair.
The level of reporting is absolutely inexcusable. The coverage on the BBC is far better, as they aren't afraid of 'offending' Bushco.
Any individual reporters that have been fair, honest and held the administration accountable get kudos from us--but their networks are going down.
This is bullshit, pure and simple--WE have the power to help those affected by Katrina. By using our anger, frustration, etc. To hold these people accountable for what they have and have not done. It starts with the media!
Again, who's with me?

1. First of all, how the hell do you plan on doing that? |
|
Second of all, what do you mean "take down the media." Third of all, many in the media want Bush's scalp for this as much as we do.

2. I'm talking about holding them accountable for their coverage... |
|
Second of all, what's with your tone?
No, not all the media has been outraged or fair in their coverage.
If you don't agree, don't offer to help. Simple.

3. When Sinclair was going to force their affiliates to show |
|
the biased documentary on Kerry--we all blasted the medai, with letters, phonecalls, e-mails. We told them we would boycott their advertisers if this was aired.
I don't see any reason that we couldn't do the same thing now. Some newscasters are still editorializing and NOT covering the news.
The role of media is to be the WATCHDOG of the public. Not to editorialize, NOT to try to bully people into saying racism is not involved here.
Yes, there are a few networks and broadcasters that have offered a bit of better coverage than they usually do. But for the most part, it has still been unacceptable, and inexcusable.
If anyone is interested in doing what we did w/Sinclair when things settle down some more, great. Let me know. :hi:
If not, I'll assume no one is interested and move on...

4. No, here's something positive: join the buycott of CITGO. |
|
Buy your gas from CITGO, the Venezuelan oil company, and pass by Exxon/Mobil in particular. Spread the word that the Venezuelan government is donating millions to Katrina relief through CITGO, and urge everyone you know to fill up at CITGO.
