DC buses to NO may come back EMPTY! Can't find anyone |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 10:07 PM by soothsayer
left to evacuate in NO, according to DC area channel 7 (wjla?) news.
AR might fly some survivors into DC to sleep in the Stadium Armory, but the buses might come back later...empty!!
Does this puzzle anyone else but me?

4. Or too dispersed, or unable to get to assembly points ... |
|
assuming, of course, they know to assemble.
We have no clue how many people remain, or why any given person is there.

People in DC want to help! We've got people who are inundating the collection centers with food, clothes, toiletries, etc. They had to turn away a bunch of people from the Armory today because they hadn't called the volunteer hotline first.

the LSU Hurricane prof on MSNBC tonight said that he gave an estimate to the Governor this morning, but that it was confidential. His tone of voice was very grim.

And am currently watching WUSA (Channel 9) 11:00 news. They expect approximately 400-500 people to arrive tomorrow from Arkansas.
They showed the D.C. Armory preparing for the influx, and it looks like they are setting things up really nice for them.
They told us not to bring anything directly to the Armory tomorrow, b/c they will be busy dealing with the influx.
Rather, we are to take stuff to one of the local police districts.

|
Nice buses (with AC, bathrooms) not DC metro buses. Just puzzling to me.

I didn't hear anything about empty buses. They were just basically saying that they expect approximately 400-500 people tomorrow, and they are also making plans if the D.C. Armony gets too full.
They are setting things up real nice for them, too, it looks like.

Everyone that's left is dead. 5 days without water is the max you can survive.
I saw on CNN today a piece about folks in a hospice, 5 were already dead, the rest were dying. Think about it. Helpless, dependent on others, and dying from flooding and lack of food and water. Yeah, that's how I'd want to go.
Also, people in nursing homes, the elderly with mobility limitations, the disabled. They all got to drink the big water, then thirst to death.
I HATE this Administration. I HATE them. The horrors of New Orleans (and everywhere along the coast with no Fed help) revolts me.
And I read that an evacuation shelter had an outbreak of dysentery - at least 20 people sick.
Welcome to Bush's America.

19. I find that hard to believe considering lab tests are required for... |
|
...that diagnosis. None the less, it does further the Third World image this country is apparently going for.
It's funny, when Bush was elected/re-elected I tried to comfort myself with the thought, "Ok, how bad can it REALLY get just because that jackass is in the White House?"
Pretty fucking bad, I guess. First World to Third World is a pretty impressive drop.

...when there are thousands needing to be relocated just hours away is beyond me.
But then again, these buses ARE from D.C. so they're from a culture of waste and lack of problem-solving ability...
