While they are lowering the toxic flood level in New Orleans, we must immediately begin draining the swamp that allowed this horror to happen. While we do all we can to assist the displaced and humiliated victims of our national negligence, nothing should slow us from removing the current administration from the power that they have abused so badly. Waiting months for investigations and hearings on what went wrong makes no sense when George W. Bush and the incompetents with whom he has surrounded himself are in a position to finish the destruction of a great nation whose traditions of fairness and equality they find inconvenient.
Impeachment is not an idea that arose during the past few tragic days. We have already witnessed the worst crimes and misdemeanors of any government in our history. Now the fruits of their treachery and ineptitude have come home to haunt us and to kill our own innocent children.
No, George Bush did not bring Hurricane Katrina down upon us, although his contempt for science will likely prevent us from understanding and averting future acts of God. What will become abundantly clear over then next few weeks and months is that Bush is at the center a formula for disaster that cannot be refuted.
This disaster began with the installation of a fake president who promptly began replacing the competent people in our government with political appointees who had enabled his still disputed rise to power. Sadly the entire government seems to have taken on the style of the bungling pretender at the top. After a busy few months of honoring his pledges to the most wealthy in America and elsewhere, George Bush took a long time out in his Texas redoubt, in spite of a raging insurgency in a country he invaded and the certainty of a merciless hurricane season to come.
We will soon see a well rested and reinvigorated president hopping from state to state trying to put lipstick on this pig. We should not buy any of this drivel nor listen to any of his acolytes who try to sell it to us. This was a fatal error on top of fatal errors and we must bring his tragic reign to a speedy close.
Although our votes have been severely compromised by corporate interests that would trump our democracy, we must not be deterred from demanding the immediate impeachment of George Bush and his currently vanished vice president. America can once again speak with one voice and it must say “Enough”.

1. I agree this tragedy is about how George Bush makes decisions |
|
about who should head agencies, what is science, what matters, who he surrounds himself with and what their end game is.
We have enough to talk about the consistent pattern of decisions.
