Please Tell Me That Evacuees Are Still Connecting With Family...
I am really worried about my friend's brother. He was stuck in NOLA. They got one phone message and then later saw a short clip on CNN where they picked him out in the background. So everyone was really happy when the buses finally showed up, but still they have heard nothing. People are still getting calls, right? The Convention Center is all evacuated from what I read...

So many thousands of families are going through this now...

1. You might want to bookmark this
The State of Louisiana now has a database set up for people trying to locate evacuees. There's a search function in there. Put his info in and see if it comes up with anything. It doesn't look like much has been entered into it yet. I'd be very surprised if the Red Cross' website also doesn't have something like this set up.

3. I just finally heard from my missing cousin yesterday morning.
She hid in her one-floor house in Kenner for a whole 5 days before emerging. Said that it was hell, that she's never been more scared in her life, etc etc. There are still tons of people who are scared to emerge, listening to the radio and concluding that it's too dangerous to go out in public.

There's still plenty of room for hope.

4. Yay!
Thank you! I'm so happy for your cousin. My friend was at the Convention Center on the CNN footage. It's all cleared out...how long did it take for her to call you -- where did she call you from? Was she evacuated?

5. She made her way on her own to a friend's house..
in Brownsville, TX. She spent pretty much all of Saturday morning/Friday night driving, and I heard from her Saturday morning.

Your friend might still be part of the evacuation effort shuffling, where the govt is still trying to decide where to house the evacuees. We've seen that the govt's efforts haven't been all that efficient..
