random thoughts on an early holiday morning (can't sleep again) . . .
forgive me if this isn't entirely coherent . . . I'm tired, and what I've seen, heard, and learned over the past week has left my heart drained and my mind on overload . . .

- the impact of the Katrina disaster is far bigger and scarier than anyone is letting on . . . in fact, I think that Mike Ruppert's assessment may be closest to the truth (http://fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/090205_bet_life.shtml)

- the bottom line is that the American lifestyle and American consumption patterns have to change, and soon . . . as a nation, we can either let the change manage us (chaos), or manage the change (at least a chance of survival) . . .

- the key determinant of which way we, as a nation, will go is leadership . . . since we don't have any right now, we are letting change manage us, and the resulting chaos is all too evident . . . we need real leadership that understands what's happening, can convince the Amererican people of the facts, and propose real, workable solutions . . .

- the Democratic Party is not likely to provide this kind of leadership . . . (hell, it's almost a certainty) . . . to save the nation (and quite probably the planet), therefore, will require that we go outside the party structure . . .

- the KIND of leader we need is someone who understands reality, has a good heart and an acute mind, will refuse any and all corporate contribtions, and is NOT part of the military/industrial/political complex . . . the KIND of leader we need is someone LIKE a Robert Redford, a Bobby Kennedy, a Bill Moyers, or a Gary Hart . . . not necessarily those specific individuals, but someone LIKE them in mind, heart, and spirit . . .

- time is running out fast . . . whatever form the new paradigm takes, we best start working on it immediately, make some decisions, and get moving . . . because time, tide, and peak oil wait for no one . . .

though I AM tired, I still can't sleep, so I'll probably watch ESPN for awhile . . . a little mental masturbation to clear the head . . . tomorrow (actually, today) I'm going to sit down and do some serious thinking about personal perparedness for what could be some very difficult times . . .

I'm also going to make donations to Habitat for Humanity, Oxfam America, and that new foundtion that the governor of Louisiana just established . . . as well as to one of the animal rescue outfits . . . can't really afford to do any of it -- but also can't afford not to . . .

Seacrest, Out! . . .

1. I've left the Peak in the back of my mind for the past few months..
since I was finishing-up college.

Now that I have more time to read, practice hobbies, etc.. I'm spending a TON more time thinking about how I'm going to prepare. Paying off debt, what kind of house to build, where to live, where to work, what kind of vehicle/scooter/motorcycle/bike to buy, etc etc.

As far as political leadership goes.. I hold-out less and less hope for the future. The Democrats we have are usually spineless, and the GOP is downright evil. I hate to say this, as I used to be very, very optimistic.. but I'm this close |-------| to giving-up politically.

Disheartening, eh?

3. Get some sleep. Wake up ready to fight.....
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 04:47 AM by LiviaOlivia
Ruppert's a hard bitch. (I say say that with admiration).

Now is the time to write/e-mail the DLC Dems..be relentless. And we have to find new candidates for 2006 and fight for them.

Wake up tomorrow with determination to win this civil war. Fatigue will be with us. Get use to being tired. We are at war.

4. Well gezzz after reading that I might not be able to sleep
But he is really saying what we are all thinking.

The democratic congress folk are mostly too chicken to tell the truth. Gore knows the truth -- he's a very smart person -- Plus he has common sense.

And common sense is what bush is lacking. Bush will never be able to see the big picture.

Bush lacks common sense, can't see the big picture, and he lacks empathy. He is absolutely devoid of empathy.

These are the very worst traits in a "leader" -- and bush is no leader.
