Pierse Brosnan tells it like it is
Irish actor Pierce Brosnan has slammed US President George W Bush for the way he has handled the Hurricane Katrina disaster in America's deep south.

The James Bond star is also critical of Bush's stance on environmental issues - particularly his refusal to sign the Kyoto Protocol which aims to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

The 52-year-old said: "This man called President Bush has a lot to answer for. I don't know if this man is really taking care of America.

"This government has been shameful."

1. Doesn't it
seem kind of weird that a LARGE number of Americans are agreeing with that...and less and less are blaming the LA local government...

2. Only weird because everyone, just about, is getting it right.
Anyone who's above 30 has seen a number of natural disasters and it's always FEMA that you hear about, FEMA, Federal... So, people would need to have their memories microwaved to assume it was the mayor or even the governor who screwed up.

Plus there is a lot of hostility to Bush. He probably lost in 2004 but stole it, people know that in their hearts. Wait until that "big lie" comes undone.

Your explanation is spot on. All a governor had to do in times past was declare a state of emergency and simply ask for federal assistance and voile' there it was. No muss, no fuss..

4. Until Huckster George came along, that is.
This maladministration doesn't see the poor, blacks, the elderly or the infirmed, the physically or mentally disabled, which are the very Americans who made up those left behind in NO. Now, finally, maybe most of America will take notice.

I've been harping on the poor and disenfanchised for almost the entire length of time I've belonged to DU. The offical poverty rate is steadily going up. Grown kids have to live with their parents for inability to afford a simple apartment. Let alone the truely homeless and low income working class families.

My primary concern has been for affordable housing along with assessible healthcare for EVERYONE. Next comes JOBS, decent paying jobs in the unskilled manufacturing sector. I'm totally anti-Nafta, Cafta and SHAFTA...AND outsourcing/offshoring our labor/jobs....ALL of it!!!

"They" keep telling me that this is a brave new world, we won't go back to the days when even a guy with a highschool education could at least get a decent paying job in a factory with some hope he would one day be able to purchase a modest dwelling for his family.

This society under RW government has destroyed every positive gain we were making up til Reagan's appearance. :puke: Deregulation of big business, tax cuts to the wealthy, a complete dismantling of a once fairly good country/social order.

Hear ya loud and clear....... Peace SB

6. Yes these portion of society are better not, seen let along heard from.
It's a shameful disgrace that in a Country as wealthy as this, there are citizens are too economically deprived, too sick, to disavantaged, to even get out of the way of a natural disaster. This maladministration doesn't see them. Disgusting.

10. Even weirder that people all over the world share our sentiments
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 02:47 AM by linazelle
And you know what's totally bizarre? That the Freepers cannot fathom why people criticize Bush.

They must be profoundly retarded--like the specially chosen guest on Tucker Carlson tonight who started out talking about rescuing people in NO and then wandered off on a rant about his past lives. That was speshul.

7. "this man called President Bush"...a polite alternative to * or "it"
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 06:20 AM by tiptoe
Understand: "they" (*Co) -- in unfathomable sterility of mind and morality -- have conducted themselves per script, regardless the "potholes" of history and Mother Nature:

All we have is proactive mass murder overseas and negligent mass murder at home.

Is "it" relevant to any human, civilized value?
