He's going to bring in a new armageddon against Blacks and civil rights, and equal opportunity (especially for business!)and Bush is claiming americans love what they see.

President the day before he was nominated as an associate justice.

These slimeballs disgust me more and more at every turn.

Anyone get the feeling that the other slimeballs like Scalia are going to be pissed that they were passed over?

30. This is the same man who was against civil rights for blacks and minority,
And who opposed the Voting Rights act on behalf of black people in the 60s where it had to get forced through in a bloody civil war.

But here President Bush claims Roberts is a great man for Chief Justice and all of America loves what they see.

38. This is outrageous.
How insane is it that bush* reacted more quickly to nominate Roberts for CJ than he did to the massive disaster in the gulf? Rehnquist isn't even cold, people are still being recovered, and I wake up this morning to this?
Why am I surprised?
How many hours since Rehnquist died? What was bush* doing that many hours after Katrina hit?

Bush did this to have a bargaining chip...

and then Bush will name either Scalia or Thomas as CJ

I'm not shocked by the choice of Roberts.
Rehnquist died Sat night? His successor is anounced Mon morning? What quick, decisive action on the part of our pResident!
What was he doing 36 hours after Katrina hit? Eating cake? Playing golf? Running from Cindy?

Hours to appoint a new CJ, days to rescue citizens? How does that help him? The media needs to point out the incongruity here. Where's Anderson Cooper? He's pissed enough.

Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 08:10 AM by Bumblebee
and it will make the hearings more contentious. Interesting -- I just woke up so I was spared the sight of him but I thought the RW will now eat him alive. a) They wanted a Scalia court; b) They wanted Roberts to replace O'Connor making that position more conservative than under the one departing and then to appoint someone even more conservative to replace Renquist. Now Roberts is replacing Renquist, Bush has no capital to spend, and the Dems will be emboldened to demand someone more in O'Connor's mold for her new replacement. There will be an added pressure on him to appoint a woman. Scalia is mad, RW is mad; the hearings will be probably delayed, the Dems will give Roberts harder time becaue it's not just another vacancy. And in the meantime Stevens will be acting CJ. In short, I am actually pleased. I think for B. it's a cop-out.
