Just heard an anchor on network news
(sorry, can't remember if it was ABC, CBS or NBC) talking about Roberts being nominated for Chief Justice, and she mentioned that O'Connor had said she would retake her seat if Ren died before her seat was filled.

Anybody else ever heard of this? I thought there was some talk here when she first retired that she would retake her seat under some kind of special circumstance, but I just don't recall.

2. The only thing I know is there were some Senators asking her
to reconsider, but I have not heard her indicate she would

7. I don't see why not
It's a lifetime appointment, so as long as the seat is still empty I don't see any problem with a Justice taking it back if they want to... of course, I have no idea what legal issues surround such a possibility (has it ever been done before?).

I swear I recall reading stuff here about there being some certain special circumstance where she would be willing to retake her seat.

10. Her resignation was conditional
It specifically stated that it was effective upon the confirmation of a new justice, so technically she isn't even retired yet.

4. Given what's going on right now? I'd beg her to retake her seat.
I'd plead for her to ask to get her seat back.

God, I feel dirty for saying that. But O'Connor wasn't all that bad. She had her moderate moments. And she wouldn't vote to overturn Roe v Wade, I think.

Look how low we've sunk. Imagine wanting Sandra Day O' Connor to rejoin the Supreme Court.

BTW: I don't think she'll do it.

5. They all are a bunch of flippant flip floppers.
I don't trust any of the unpatriotic five, who threw our votes in the trash and appointed this disastrous Bush regime, who are destroying the country a little more every day. The four to five vote in the case of Bush vs Gore, meant the real terrorists had won!

6. She said she'd serve
until replaced, so until an appointment for her seat is confirmed, she said she'd serve.
